For anyone that grew up in the U.K. in the late 50s and swinging 60s this book is an absolute must.
You will be able to recall the sounds, sights and smells of the snips that are featured in this book. We were cracked up with laughter as we remembered so many of the incidents relating to T.V. advertisements, washing powders, bubble gum, buses and everything that we all lived through during that period.
Alison has captured the features amazingly - makes you realize how great those times were. Loved it and would thoroughly recommend

I bought this as a Christmas gift. Having glanced through it I gave it with the proviso that I wanted to borrow it back. Excellent nostalgic material for baby boomers and an insight into life in the fifties and sixties for their children.

I bought them as individual books after seeing a review of the '60's' in my local paper. Both books are delightful, full of nostalgia and things I had forgotten all about. It was like being wrapped in a nice warm blanket which smelt of every nice smell you ever remember. (And the knowing I had been born just in time for the best of times).
Well done Alison.

Having been born during the Second World War I regard this period as very much my time. My dad took me to the Festival of Britain in 1951. This was the start to me of a period when austerity was ending and there was intense optimism in the air. My school and student days were a joy. This book brings back a host of memories. Robert Opie's scrap books and his Gibson jigsaws have also given me immense pleasure. Highly recommended.

My wife's review:
I got this book for Christmas and I have read it from cover to cover, even the small print in the adverts! I loved it so much. It took me back to a time when things were so different from the world we live in now. I was born in 1951 and was a teenager in the 60s so it was really relevant to me. So many things that I had forgotten about. Filled with pictures and anecdotes and memories of things that happened then, it was a delight to read. It has made me want to write my own memoires. Wonderful - recommended reading for any nostalgic baby-boomer.

I had already viewed this book and thought it so entertaining that I decided to buy my own edition. I think the book is ideal for any age group but especially those born between 1930 and 1950. It contains lots of pictures and anecdotes.

The only book I have read which ticks all the boxes in bringing back those lovely old memories of a time, so different, and dare I say it, happier, than what we seem to have today..or is it the rose-coloured glasses idea? No, they were really the best times ever.
