From Amazon.co.uk

A year has passed since 4400 abductees were returned to Earth (and six months since the original series ended). Richard (Mahershalalhashbaz Ali), Lily (Laura Allen), and Isabelle are on the run from Jordan Collier (Billy Campbell) and others who would attempt to harm their child. Shawn (Patrick Flueger) has moved into Collier's cult-like 4400 Center. Then there are NTAC (National Threat Assessment Command) agents Diana (Jacqueline McKenzie) and Tom (Joel Gretsch). The former has officially adopted Maia (Conchita Campbell), while the latter is reunited with formerly comatose son Kyle (Chad Faust), Shawn's best friend. Almost everyone, returnees and otherwise, is changing. Jordan, for instance, is having more seizures (as a result of his first encounter with the eerie Isabelle), while Kyle is having blackouts. Along the way, new characters are introduced, like mute mental patient Kevin (Jeffrey Combs), who regains the ability to talk, thanks to Tess (Summer Glau, Serenity), the only returnee who can recall what happened to her. Others include Diana's sister April (Natasha Gregson Wagner), Jordan’s pal Matthew (Garret Dillahunt, Deadwood), and former NTAC supervisor Dennis Ryland (Peter Coyote), who returns to the fold. Guest stars include E.R. 's Sharif Atkins ("Voices Carry"), Star Trek: Voyager's Robert Picardo ("Weight of the World"), and Twin Peaks' Sherilyn Fenn ("Carrier"). The season will end much as the miniseries began, with the 4400 being released from another quarantine, setting the scene for the next year. Although the first set was a barebones release, the second features commentary from McKenzie, Gretsch, writer Craig Sweeny, and writer/producer Ira Steven Behr. --Kathleen C Fennessy

Product Description

Complete second series of the US sci-fi drama executive-produced by Francis Ford Coppola. Over the last century, thousands of people have gone missing and are presumed dead. When a meteor impacts over Earth, all 4400 people are returned to Earth as suddenly and inexplicably as they disappeared. In this series, it has been a year since the abductees returned. Jordan (Bill Campbell) is opening a series of '4400 Centres' to spread the message, while the NTAC starts becoming more interested in the strange powers exhibited by them. Tom (Joel Gretsch) and Diana (Jacqueline McKenzie) investigate a 4400 whose powers devastate a small community, and who could potentially wipe out humanity. Episodes are: 'Wake Up Call (Part 1)'; 'Wake Up Call (Part 2)'; 'Voices Carry'; 'Weight of the World'; 'Suffer the Children'; 'As Fate Would Have It'; 'Life Interrupted'; 'Carrier'; 'Rebirth'; 'Hidden'; 'Lockdown'; 'The Fifth Page'; and 'Mommy's Bosses'.

3.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic show, but choose R1 instead! 12 July 2006
Format:DVD|Amazon Verified Purchase
Another great show from former Star Trek - writers and producers, the 4400 continues it's great run into the second season. As a Sci-Fi or mystery-fan you absolutely owe it to yourself to get this, but the region1-version is much better than this european rip-off. The people responsible for this are most likely the same ones that mistreated the code2 release of "The Dead Zone", where all the extras were missing. Furthermore, as with "Dead Zone" before, the picture quality is significantly inferior to the code1 pendant. It looks like they took the NTSC transfer and converted it to PAL, resulting in a lack of sharpness and some bleeding. Overall, the fantastic visuals even of the first season code2 release, obviously done a little bit more careful, are lost.

The bottom line is, if you have a multi-region player, please do not finance this kind of behaviour by paying 150% of the region1-price for a vastly inferior product without any extras and a lazy low quality image transfer.

Anyway, this show rocks!

5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent, under-rated series 3 July 2006
Format:DVD
Whilst I hear this is big in The States, in the UK the 4400 gets very little coverage and airtime, which is a shame. I'm not even sure if it's made terrestrial TV, or has only been on Sky

The series is based in the realm of SciFi, with people having special abilities. However, the focus and premise of the whole show is the affects these have on the human subjects and their friends, and the show is plot driven rather than by set pieces. While not as fast paced as other SciFi series, the slow, gradual unfolding of the plot makes a refreshing change in a format that can be at times formulaic. After watching all the episodes, I can't wait for the next season.

I'd recommend this to people who enjoy SciFi, but I'd also recommend it to those who don't. It's definitely more of a Lost type series than it is a Star Trek.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great show but no extras! 12 Jun 2006
Format:DVD
The second series of 'The 4400' is much better than the first. It is a brilliant mix of Sci-Fi and drama, making it well worth a watch.

My only quibble is that the Region 2 DVD has no extras, whereas the Region 1 did!
