Well, what have we here ? Ohhh another book about The Beatles. Been there, done that, neeeext ! Well, hang on - this is actually a lot more than just a book about The Beatles. What makes this one stand out from the rest is that it's like a flap-book for grown-ups ! It's got loads of red and white envelopes throughout the book, each one full of mock-ups of various Beatle-related memorabilia. We've got reproductions of hand-written set lists, souvenir postcards, flyers, tickets, tour posters ... they're all really well made, perfectly reproduced with incredible attention to detail like the thickness or glossiness of the paper. One piece that really stood out was a partially burned piece of paper, that looks really realistic. Make sure you get your fingers right down to the bottom of each envelope though or you'll miss some of the smaller items. I'm not a huge Beatles fan and even I was getting all excited about all the different bits and pieces hidden away in the envelopes !

The book itself is really well presented too. It's full of photos - many of which I'd never seen before - as well as a chronological account of the Beatles' career and double page spreads on each album, detailing their chart success, snippets of information about the band's reactions to the songs or how they came about. I'm sure most of it has been said before in numerous other Beatles books, but it made fascinating reading. It's also not too text-heavy, so if you're not an avid reader, you'll still enjoy flicking through, looking at the pictures and dipping in and out of the texts.

It's beautifully presented in a sturdy box - which is just as well because any true fan will be forever pulling it out to drool over the memorabilia gems hidden within. Even if you've got a million other Beatles books, you certainly won't regret adding this one to your collection.

A little disappointing. The thickness of the box cover makes it look like a substantial book of about an inch thick and although the book spine is the same thickness the book is a lot smaller once you slide it out! It's a clever way of making it look like you're getting more for your money. Good photos though, some of which I haven't seen before and included are facsimiles of tickets, posters, flyers etc. Once you've looked through these however there's little else to hold your attention. I bought this as a gift so was disappointed that it wasn't as big and not as good a book as I thought - should have checked it out in a bookstore first. There are better Beatles books on the shelf than this.

If you love the Beatles; above and beyond the music - buy this book! It was a superb Christmas gift given to me last year and I thoroughly enjoy it. Its more a look and enjoy book as opposed to an in depth written account of the band but anyone who enjoys looking at memorabilia will like it! Probably a book only for the die hard fans though!
