Product Description

Product Description

The Sixties will be remembered for mini skirts and mini cars, The Beatles and The Rolling Stones, boutiques and discotheques, and England winning the World Cup. But The 1960s Scrapbook also covers much more with its 1400 colourful items. Television gripped the nation with Coronation Street and The Likely Lads, while children were entertained by the Darlecks, Thunderbirds and The Man from Uncle. Twiggy became the fashion icon and the E-type jaguar the motoring aspiration for men. James Bond was the spy to emulate and the space race caught everyones imagination, including a vast range of space toys. There are now ten Scrapbooks in this series covering the Victorian era up to the 1970s plus the Royal Scrapbook. Together they form an invaluable resource of popular culture and lifestyle.

PHENOMENOL !!! 11 April 2003
Format:Hardcover
I love nostalgia...especially '60s nostalgia...BUT, so often the books and TV shows produced are thin and disappointing. This book is neither. Every single one of these vast pages is crammed with images of so long ago. It is a feast for the eyes. Nostalgia for the soul.

The tremendous British culture, both pop and otherwise, of the 1960's deserves a book of this quality and calibre, so does anyone who loves and remembers Britain in that incredibly colourful and creative time.

As someone who was a small child then, I especially appreciated the pages dedicated to childhood imagery...the comics, the TV shows, the toys, sweet packaging, a whole page dedicated to ice cream packaging and advertising alone!(ZOOM, Orbit, Fab, even Kinky has not been forgotten)...it's all here and more...

The print, the colour, the presentation is of tremendous quality and generosity. Not a single corner has been cut.

I can't wait to give this book to everyone I know who has even the slightest memory or love for Britain in the 1960s.

Three cheers and Bravo! to every single person who was involved in creating this absolute masterpiece!

N.B. Ignore the dreadful pseudo Jimi Hendrix electro guitar art on the cover. It has nothing to do with this book. That's another 1960s all together and is totally misleading and might put off the very people this book is trying to appeal to.

I was SO impressed with this book. My family were less so after suffering hours of me shouting "Look at this, i had one of those" and "I'd forgotten all about those, they were brilliant".

I was born in 63, so some things i didn't remember, such as some of the album covers, the boys toys, cars etc. But having an older sister we recognised things that she had. (Especially the Twiggy cut-out book!)

This is a marvellous book in many ways. It can provide a talking point with family and friends and my son was able to use it for an art project at school.

I'm eagerly waiting for the 1970's scrapbook (ordered, just waiting for it to arrive).

These books are a must for all nostalgia fans.

ah what memory! 18 May 2010
Format:Hardcover|Amazon Verified Purchase
I love this book. Going through it remembering the good times we had in the Sixties. My favourite comics, favourite chocolates, my mother's washing powder, old Radio Times, my favorite cigarettes (consulate) they don't make any of them anymore. I missed the Sixties, it was fun and the famous people were unknown then are now so famous it has become something of a bore. Life was very different then, jobs were easy to get hold of, meeting people were easy to meet at parties, smoking in pubs were easy and everyone was more relaxed and enjoying life. If I could get into a tardis and go back I would!

Bought this for a member of the family who is writing his memoirs. We have had a lot of fun with "Do you remember this" or "Forgotten all about that".
