This is an album that I bought when it came out in the mid-80s, having heard some of his early stuff, and it really cemented my lifelong love affair with the man. Every song (possibly excepting Limousine Driver) is worthy of it's place. Some might question his revision of Everyday, but I think Buddy Holly would be pleased to hear it made so completely into a wonderful ballad. But the song which takes this album from being good to great is the title track. JT has always mirrored his own life with his music (sometimes painfully), and it is such a joy to hear him finally getting the point about how much pleasure he brings all those of us who love him. "Fortune & fame, such a curious game; perfect strangers call you by name, and pay good money to hear 'Fire and Rain' again and again and again. Some are like summer, coming back every year; got their baby, got their blanket, got their bucket of beer. I break into a grin from ear to ear, and suddenly it's perfectly clear; that's why I'm here". We've known it for ages......

It doesn't get any better than this. Top class songwriting, top class singers and top class musicians and the sound quality is top class too. How about Joni Mitchell, Graham Nash and Don Henley on vocals. Davis Sanborn, Tony Levin, Randy Brecker, Bill Payne, Michael Brecker and off course Russell Kunkel and Leland Sklar. I would like a backing band like this.

Sometimes you just want to return to a time when life was less complicated. Recently I did this by buying a cd to replace a cassette that had been lost many moves ago.
As soon as I heard the first few bars of music I was transported back over 20 years, and found myself singing along to my favourite tracks as though I had heard them only yesterday.

What a superb album, not a bad track in sight. Worth the price just for the song Only a dream in Rio.

Bought this hoping it was up to his usual standard although have not been quite as please with this as some of his CDs - does contain some good old James tracks tho.
