5.0 out of 5 stars Great live dvd from jazz master Miles Davis 4 Jun 2009
This is a great dvd of the master of jazz Miles Davis. His trumpet playing on this 1987 concert dvd from Munich is absolutely fantastic. Also his band playes great stuff. Do you want a jazzy, funky Miles and band. This is the one. The sound on this disc is superb. A great 5.1 DTS track and also a very good 2.0 dolby digital track are avaible on this beautiful live dvd. Also with Miles interview as a bonus!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fusion music of the highest calibre. 29 July 2013
By Kevin
Format:DVD|Verified Purchase
The music on this DVD is very much from Davis' late, jazz/rock era. He has gathered together a superb band who weave a magical tapestry of laid-back fusion music. Davis himself plays more the role of conductor/director and leaves the bulk of the playing to the band, injecting telling snatches of trumpet here and there. I don't pretend to be either a jazz, or a Davis expert (the only album of his I own is the mighty Bitches Brew) but this is really wonderful music that almost any music lover would surely drool over. Highly recommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars Revisiting a night with Miles 22 Jan 2010
By David Zehring - Published on
Format:DVD|Verified Purchase
This was the last Miles band that we saw live, in our case at the Paramount Theater in Seattle. Darryl Jones, Foley, Kenny Garrett et al, with Miles resplendent as usual in outrageously colorful garb, oblivious to the audience. The DVD in question here is excellent, filmed for the jazz audience and very well-recorded. The performances are very good throughout, especially from Kenny Garrett and Foley, who plays a long and intense solo on a blues, something one doesn't ordinarily expect to be a part of a Miles Davis song list. Highly recommended.

There is nothing really outstanding about this performance, but as a Miles Davis collector, it was a must.
The best part of the dvd is the interview with Miles which runs for about 30mins

Awesome! This is an amazing performance. Miles has a great band. The musicians are top notch, the arrangements are fresh, and modern. The band has a very good command of the songs they are performing, and they play togerher very well. I highly recommend this dvd

I usually don't like watching concerts on DVD. But this was a pleasure. A remarkable concert.
Fans of the Rolling Stones may also enjoy it for the presence of Darryl Jones on bass.
