Stellar pleasure 13 Sep 2007
Format:Audio CD
Although being one of the better songs from Zeitgeist it is the B-sides that shine brightest here with 'Stellar' worth the price alone.

This 6+ minute masterpiece is a beautiful song dripping with emotion very typical of what we all know Corgan is capable of. In fact I will be as bold as to say it wouldn't feel out of place on either Mellon Collie discs! Apparently it was a leftover song (although available as bonus track in US?) from Zeitgeist.....silly Billy! It is songs like this the album lacked.

The other B-side 'Daydream' is a nice up-beat acoustic number that reminds me of a James Iha tune. If your're an avid collector of Pumpkins material then you will not be dissapointed here, highly recommended.

As a lifelong Pumpkins fan it is great to see songs like Stellar included on single releases as this song justifies the purchase alone. I have everything the SP have ever released and to make it clear; Gish was of course released in the UK. Daydream (in title) is lifted from this album, one would imagine simply to satisfy Billy Corgan's needs to show the world how he really wanted this song recorded. I can only think D'Arcy was given the honours on Gish as an appeasement offering back in the early days of the band...let's face it, D'Arcy wasn't ever the strongest vocalist in terms of either singing ability or individuality.

Get this for Stellar if nothing else. I have a feeling this song will metamorphose into an epic live track.

This British version of the second single from the Smashing Pumpkins return album Zeitgeist is extra cool in that it contains the bonus song "Stellar" that was only available in the US on the iTunes version of the album! I must correct one of the other reviewers on here (Amazon UK). That is an interesting analysis stating that "Daydream" sounds like it could be a James Iha solo song. Yes, it does sound like that. But this is the problem, "Daydream" is actually an old Smashing Pumpkins song from their very first album, Gish. I am guessing that the other reviewer either forgot or does not have that album. I can't believe that Gish was not released in the UK as I have an import LP of it on Caroline Records. Smashing Pumpkins releases (CDs, LPs, CSs, singles) were on Virgin, Hut, and Caroline Records in various countries. Also the original "Daydream" is the only SP song sung (mainly) by D'arcy. Obviously I'm in the US.
