Great album! Texas Surf rules!

I had never heard many of these tunes, but they're great. I couldn't stop laughing at "Termites". Some cheesy and some sophisticated, but all of them just drip 1960s sound and feel. True period pieces, worth preserving and re-playing.
It's easy to imagine a million-watt Mexican radio station in 1963 featuring a profanity-blazing disk jockey like Wolfman Jack blasting a rock-and-roll show with snippets of "Dream Theme" played on the hour as a theme song.
It's interesting to compare these instrumental styles with their Texas contemporaries like Buddy Holly and Roy Orbison. These were all influential on the budding British Rock of the period including the Beatles, the Shadows, Hank Marvin, etc. This preceeded the naming of the genre "surf".
This direction of influence (Texas to England) is not well known among music critics or fans. But many interviews of British musicians of the period have made it clear that the influence was substantial.
I recommend that any serious students of music - or any current residents of Animal House style dorms or fraternity houses - get this album and play it for their friends.
