where the story begins, this book opens to 10 sturdy, easy-to-turn board pages in the popular 2-page spread, with a line of clear, easy-to-follow text on each.
This delightful book is further enhanced by the 'touchy-feely' bits and the repeat element on the words:-
'That's not my polar bear'.
The cover picture of the polar bear with the too soft ears, is followed inside by one with claws which are too shiny, then another........
Excellent illustrations throughout, as always, from Rachel Wells, and that popular 'regular' - 'the mouse' - is suitably attired for the chilly elements! A few opportunities present for further activity and discussion, e.g. counting the snowflakes, what colour is?, and what else can you see?
Example of text:-
'That's not my polar bear.
Its ears are too soft.
That's not my polar bear.
Its claws are too shiny.
That's not my polar bear.....
Its nose is too.........'
until a positive identification is reached at the very end -
'That's my polar bear!'!
Super book which has oodles of appeal to even the youngest participants in my reading groups, with the more observant keen to turn the page to find where that little mouse is....... and what colour his hat and scarf are this time.........just as much as explore those textured bits!

These books are the perfect gift for any child. Short but beautifully detailed they provide a lovely experience for you both to share at story time. My daughter wants to read this one every day!

My 9,5 month old LOVES touching the textures and I like that I can point out the different parts of the polar bear (tongue nose ears etc) so he can get a gist for naming. Definately a winner and we will be buying more of these for sure :) Also great is the Usborne look & say books
