Elvis Sings the Great British Songbook

Biography

Elvis Aaron Presley is one of the biggest-selling artists of all-time, but mere numbers cannot begin to explain the colossal cultural impact he had in the mid-20th Century. He was a central figure in the transformation of the grey, conservative 50s into the technicolor 60s through the liberalizing effect of rock and pop music. Frank Sinatra had proved extremely popular in the 40s with young ... Read more in Amazon's Elvis Presley Store

5.0 out of 5 stars Top Marks For A Top Artist! 12 July 2004
Format:Audio CD
I would like to thank "trudellababe from fame acadmy" for actually taking time out of his day to write a negative review on Elvis Presley's new single That's All Right. This creature not only took at least ten minutes to type out such a review but also he has obviously missed out on an education because he couldn't even spell properly. If Elvis is only meant for grandads and old men (& old ladies) why then has he made a chart entry at Number 3??!! I don't see R Kelly has any such achievement. Nuff said!

5.0 out of 5 stars How it all started 3 July 2004
Format:Audio CD
This is the single that started it all. On July 5th 1954 Elvis recorded his first single in Sun studios marking the internationally recognised birth of Rock and Roll. The single has been re-released in response to FAN demands to commerate the Golden Jubilee.

Apart from its historical significance, this is also a great song with great rythm that you will never tire of listening to. While there have been thousands of imitators (there are over 7000 imitators making a living from impersonating Elvis worldwide at the moment) there has never been anyone who could sing like Elvis.

The quality of the sound on the single is excellent, you would almost think that Elvis was in the room with you as he sings. If you like this single (and you will) you should also buy Elvis at Sun, the latest album which has 19 songs recorded in 1954/55.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great song from the Best artist Ever 22 July 2004
Format:Audio CD
This song although may not be one of his more hyper songs, certainly is great. I myself am 15 and I am proud to say I am a Elvis fan, Elvis is one of the best artists of all time, 50 years after his first recording and the world still is not the same and never will be thanks to the true king.

To the person that said that Elvis is for old people well do you remember the JXL remix "A little less conversation"? If it was for old people why on earth would someone even bother to make a remix? and why would it go to number one?
