Product Description

Thatcher claimed that "there is no such thing as society". Did she really mean it, and was she good for Britain. This text analyzes the state of Britain that brought Thatcher to power and asks what, if anything, was the philosophy behind this woman.

Being a fan of Icon's 'Introducing' and 'For Beginners' guides, I chose this book because I knew it would explain all I wanted to know in an accessable format, with the cartoon style illustrations making it fun to read. This guide to Thatcher is probably the most enjoyable on the market, and although the subject can be slightly confusing in places, is certainly the most easy to follow of the somewhat limited range of books on Thatcher available. Highly recommended for study and pleasure.

Excellent 21 Feb 2003
Format:Paperback
Thatcher for Beginners is a excellent guide to probably the most influential politican in British Post-War politics.
The book's balance between text and cartoons brillantly and easily brings to life Thatcher her career in politics, becoming the first female Prime Minister, her influence on British society which even today is still felt.
An excellent book for study on Thatcherism or for reading for pleasure.
The only small criticism is it's a pity the book hasn't been incorporated like some of the earlier Beginners series into the Introducing series.
