The most touching and well written book I have ever read! Heartbreaking story about separation and reunion of mother and daughter. Incredible description of family love and a life-and-death struggle. Great story about life altogether. I recommend this book to everyone.

This is the kind of book that ought to carry a label: "Warning: Emotional Dynamite." All the more so because it's true, and because it's written so grippingly and expertly by a master of suspense fiction. But as Campbell Armstrong demonstrates in this book, the truth is often so much stranger than fantasy. A child of 17 gives up her child for adoption in 1957, never expecting to see or hear from her again. They meet many, many years later in circumstances neither could have imagined. And we never would have known this remarkable story except that the author was forced to tell it so that one of the souls involved could find peace. He weaves his own story in as well, one that will resonate with all fathers and sons. Un-put-downable -- an extraordinary achievement.

I couldn't put this book down. The depth of love and respect the author felt for his ex-wife is very moving; the description of her adopted daughter's determined efforts to trace her mother made my heart ache. Mr Armstrong also writes about his own demon - alcoholism - and the effects it had on his two marriages; this aspect of the book I found particularly poignant as my two sisters are married to alcoholics. It also gave me hope that if he can conquer alcoholism, anyone can.
