Review

The book is entertaining... read and absorb the first-rate guidance from accomplished presenters."  Professional Manager

Product Description

Be good, be clear, be unforgettable... Everyone knows that presentations matter. They make or break ideas and careers. They change minds. They can enhance or destroy value - yours and your company's. But the corporate world is suffering from presentation overload: too many, too dull and too long. It has never been more important to learn the art of commanding attention, of getting your message across so that people remember it - and you. There are hundreds of "how to" books on presentations. Many of them are written by people who may have presented in the past (or may not) but who weren't necessarily very good at it. This book is different. This book is by the experts, the authors are presentation consultants to the cream of UK companies. Expect ideas, stimulation and tips to make you truly memorable for all the right reasons.

1.0 out of 5 stars Some gems lost in a barrage of conflicting advice, 30 Oct 2002
This review is from: That Presentation Sensation: be Good, be Passionate, be Memorable (Paperback)
I found this book disappointing.

I don't doubt the credentials of the great presenters interviewed in the book. But, possibly by the very nature of having many contributors, I struggled to find a single clear message or consistent theme. When I paid close attention there was actually a good deal of conflicting advice from the different contributors, and each piece of advice was so brief that I couldn't take a view on which suited me better.

There were plenty of gems and top tips in the book that made me think, but the substantiation and philosophy behind each of them was too thin for me to turn any of the tips into something meaningful that I could use.

I wouldn't recommend this book unless you already have a strong style that already works and are looking for tips to fine tune. If you're not a great presenter and are looking for more fundamental guidance you may simply end up confused.
