Book Description

2 Oct 2006 BBC Audio
This work features more sketches from the inside-out world of David Mitchell and Robert Webb, including what James Bond is really like as a party guest, and the rather too exciting world of Rabbit Newsnight. Their distinctive and lopsided view of the world includes the worst possible name for a dry cleaning shop; the brave and dangerous work of Hairdressers Sans Frontiers; and the tragic consequences when a stray piece of ham goes unchecked. Mitchell and Webb's gallery of peculiar characters is populated by misfits, eccentrics, the occasional talking animal and a few stray Radio 4 arts programme presenters. Starring are David Mitchell and Robert Webb, with Olivia Colman and James Bachman.

4.0 out of 5 stars Hilarious 30 Dec 2006
This is great value - 3 CD of chuckles and laugh-out-loud humour. The sketches have been separated to make it easier to navigate to your favourite ones (and there are some that have also featured on the TV series). One of the few narrative CDs I own and it's going on the 'favourites' list.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sheer Genius - Now We Know!!!! 25 July 2014
This is a work of undiluted hilarity. There is a wide assortment of comic characters and the razor sharp satirical wit of Mitchell and Webb never fails to delight. The sardonic and sarcastic snooker commentators are a joy. The Question Time spoof "Big Talk" is a withering mickey take of the pomposity of a lot of "serious" chat shows. The pervy TV show director who feigns disapproval when his actors get carried away in love scene, will make you chuckle. I own this fabulous show on audiobooks, and tend to listen to it last thing at night, when I can drift off to sleep with a big grin on my face. If you listen to this show, you too will soon have reason to be saying "Now we know!!!!".

Mitchell and Webb have to be one of my favourite comedy partnerships of recent years. While poking fun at the seemingly mundane in life, the extraordinary things we all seem able to accept and occasionally going off on flights of hilarious fantasy, they're never afraid to give the inner geek free reign.

In this first radio series we are treated to the secret life of snooker commentators, discussing party invitations for the likes of Scooby Doo and James Bond and a myriad of other quickfire, usually hilarious sketches.

Also starring Olivia Coleman and James Bachman in a bewildering array of characters, this is a well written sketch show, and while there is the odd dud most of the sketches hit rather than miss, and the short quickfire nature means there are plenty of laughs in each episode.

All six episodes are collected here, on 3 cds in a double jewel case. There is a very brief inlay with a few biograhical details. Series 1 of the Mitchell and Webb look repeats a large proportion of the sketches, but there is enough material unique to radio or TV to make it worth owning both.

5 Stars.

To coin a cliche..a bit like the curate's egg, good in parts. Some sketches were very amusing but others were just plain silly. Perhaps it suffered because I had just listened to Cabin Pressure which is so very very funny.

5.0 out of 5 stars Can't Wait to Find It! 31 Jan 2013

Hey--can anybody tell me where this is in my house? I bought it as a Christmas gift, tucked them away and still can't find it. I know my son is going to love it--we all love Mitchell & Webb in our house. Hopefully I'll figure out where I hid it before next Christmas. It'll probably surface sometime in August--that's what usually happens in cases like this.
