Product Description

That Deadwood Feeling is a blackly comic film noir, a tale of three guys who dream of making a movie, of becoming players in the game of life. What could be simpler? Michael (Dexter Fletcher, Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Hotel Babylon) has the enthusiasm, Jack (Jack Davenport, Pirates of the Caribbean) has the intellect and Frank (Demetri Goritsas, The Bourne Identity) - well, Frank has the answer to everything.

The only minor obstacle is that they haven¹t a single original idea between them, until out of the shadows comes this weird actor guy (Richard Stanley, dir. Hardware, Dust Devil) who offers them his life story on a plate.

Off they set on a journey of optimism, exploitation, denial, dreams, both good and bad - and ultimately death. Throughout they re offered words of worldly wisdom by Larry, (David Soul, Starsky and Hutch), a seen-it-all, done-it-all big shot that s if you believe his own publicity.

Watching over the unfolding story is an unnamed character (Angus Deayton) who seems to know everything and how it s all meant to be. But who the hell is he? What¹s his game? And what s his relationship to the mysterious Girl in the Red Dress (Ivana Horvat)?

Although no animals were harmed in the making of this movie, it would be inhumane to let em watch it! LARRY

I've seen an advanced copy of this film (I'm friends with the producer) and it's really rather funny. Perhaps not to everyone's tastes, but if you like films and/or are interested/involved in the film industry you should find this little British movie entertaining.

The film is loosely based on a true story, as the writer/director tried to make a film with his brother and best friend that never quite got off the ground and ended up writing a film about his attempts to do so with a surreal twist or two along the way. Interestingly, this is a case of art imitating life and life deciding to have the last word - as it's a film you almost didn't get the chance to see - the film 'disapeared'. There's a short doc on the dvd about this and a commentary by the producer and director that goes into more detail on the story, more surreal than anything they made up, of what happened next. It is worth a look and I would definitely recommend that you watch the short documentary included on the disc.

The three leads are fantastic, supported by a tour-de-force cameo from David Soul as Larry the producer (David fans, don't miss out, he's fantastic in this) and by Richard Stanley (cult director of Hardware and Dust Devil, best known as the director who had creative differences with the cast of the Island of Doctor Moreau, which led to his being famously fired from the project). There's also nice support from Angus Deyton and Ivana Horvat.

I challenge anyone who sees this not to find themselves quoting lines, it's eminently quotable, particularly the Larry segment. An enjoyable British movie that deserves to be seen; a last act that would justify the work and performances of all those involved.

I have just logged on to the web and discovered that the film I produced is now being released on DVD. Curiously I was not told of the release but then that's the whole quirky odd background to this film. A film where the producer who co-conceived/co-wrote the film (me) with his brother director (Simon) fell out never to be reconciled again and where having taken steps to initiate the distribution having sold the rights some years after the apparent theft of the negative, the producer and co-writer (that's me again) remains in the dark as to the fate of his own film. That's the film business and of course that's all in the film too.... so it's all there and it continues in reality. An exceptional piece of film making which continues to haunt all those connected. Can somebody let me know what the UNMAKING OF bit is like? MARK UBSDELL Producer That Deadwood Feeling

I bought this ONLY to see David Soul's most recent film.
If David would've had a more prominent role the film would of been much better.
His performance in the film is wonderful as the Mr. Know-it-all film expert.
Had David Soul not been in the film...I would've definitely passed this one up.
