Amazing isn't it that this man was originally famous for his "face" - the music mattered not one jot, but then, he was with the Herd, and the least said about that the better. Yet here we are, with all those years behind him (and us!) and, true to form, he hands in yet another superlative piece of grown-up rock.
I remember the first time that I heard his playing on the early Humble Pie albums, especially PERFORMANCE, where he let rip with his articulate and fluid, almost jazzy, solos. I always thought that he was far more than just an out and out rocker and indeed over the years, whilst he has continued delivering AOR rock, he has also delivered some very sassy music too, suitable for any appreciative adult rock audience.
So what have we here? Well, nothing to surprise, just more of his delicious musical styles showing a songsmith truly at the top of his craft. Opening with the softly rocking "Thank You Mr Churchill" we move up through the gears to "Asleep At The Wheel" with it's terrific stuttering infills and solos, but it's actually the supreme "Liberte Suite" that has you sitting up and listening closely throughout it's almost seven and a half minute playing time - exquisite...and thinking about my comments elsewhere about 2010:The Year Of The Guitar Wizard - this is yet another to throw into the same bag.......Brilliant!
Never a vocalist of the power of Mr Marriott, Peter still nonetheless delivers an easy listening voice that more than suits the material on display here, any shortcomings more than vanquished by that superlative Les Paul.
Here's to many more of the same from Mr Frampton!!

Easily Mr Framptons's strongest "Studio" album to date.

Yes, of course the guitar playing is absolutely sublime but there is so much more to admire here. Peter even through the lean years has stayed true to his core values as a musician and songwriter and always produced fresh original work avoiding the trap of simply rehashing "Comes Alive" for the quick buck and this album is a culmination of all the years and experiences that has brought him to this point.

The whole album is very strong and shows a 60 year musician and songwriter at the height of his powers. Also I dont think I have heard Peter ever sing better.

As the Title suggests the inspiration for the album comes from Peter's earliest memories and it allows us to witness the most personal lyrics we've ever heard from him beautifully describing many deep emotions and the process of rediscovering long lost memories from our childhood which we can all relate to. I defy anyone who listens to Vaudeville Nanna And The Banjolele not to get a little choked up with nostalgia!!!

This is not to say Peter doesnt rock on this album. HE DOES!!
Tracks such as "I Want It Back" and "I'm Due A You" really kick.

This album takes us back to the original ideals of what makes a great album right down to the artwork which portrays the perfect canvas for what lies inside.

Overall the really great thing for me about this album is the variation of styles and the sheer artistry of this mans craft.... his music.

Having seen Frampton live last year for the first time in many decades I was blown away, just as I was with this this album. It has a bit of everything and Frampton back to his very best. Absolutely love it :)

i am 24 so have not heard much of peter frampton's early work(i do own the 'comes alive album though which is brilliant!)at first i only knew that he played with david bowie but soon discovered he is absolutely fantastic on his own! this album is one of the best rock albums i have heard for ages! i would never have thought the man was in his 60s! his vocals are very strong and show no signs of age and his guitar playing is first class1 if you don't have this album then for goodness sake BUY IT!!! (i wonder if he'll ever do a duet album with david bowie? - that would be excellent!!!)

I really loved this album. It is the perfect Peter Frampton experience. There is electric hard rock, whimsical guitar, accoustic masterpieces, and r & b all masterfully executed by the great guitarist, Peter Frampton. Need I say more? I could go on to say the writing with cowriter Gordon Kennedy and son Julian is witty and truthful and full of surprises! A GREAT album and I would definitely recommend that you add it to your collection! Thank You Mr Churchill
