Book Description

1 July 2006
It is a little known fact that of the thirty seven clubs that have played in the English Premier League since its inception of the 92/93 season, twelve can trace their origin directly to a church. However, many of these famous football clubs know little about their origins or their founders. This book, which is the fruit of seven years intensive research, features chapters on: Aston Villa, Barnsley, Birmingham City, Bolton Wanderers, Everton, Fulham, Liverpool, Manchester City, Queen's Park Rangers, Southampton, Swindon and Town Tottenham Hotspur. This book is a must read for football fans everywhere!

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing unknown facts 17 May 2007
This book is a must read for all football fans.

Religious or not, you will find out facts about your team that not even your official history was aware of.

Whats more, this book has led to some amazing events in the football world.

Swindon Town are changing their official badge after the research done for this book revealed that Swindon had the year they were formed wrong.

Tottenham Hotspurs founder is getting a proper gravestone now, after this book revealed he was buried un an unmarked paupers grave in Dover.

The research that must have gone into this book is incredible, and the new angle of going into the history via the founding churches has revealed new information that not even the clubs themselves knew.

5.0 out of 5 stars A first rate book 24 July 2011
If, like me, you're an Anglican and a football fan, this book is a must. And if you're only one of these, or even neither, I would still recommend it. The author has done some punctilious research and writes in a very readable way. Apart from anything else, it is an interesting insight into the social history of late nineteenth and early twentieth century England. I learnt a great deal from it.

The photographs are also first rate and add to the attraction of a very good book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing 4 Jan 2011
Amazing book and its a blessing we have authors like this that who keep history alive by researching it in depth. I will be certainley trying to contact the author for more information on his findings of Manchester City's Anna Connell.

If You dont Know Your Clubs History.................its a sin in my eyes.
