Book Description

New Thailand Fiction Author Smashes It!

Mike Fook's first fiction book set in Phuket, Thailand is action-filled and drawing rage-filled reviews from other Thailand authors that are afraid their ship has been set on fire.

Read this Book and the Second in the Series to See Why:

  • a US Navy SEAL loved it.

  • a woman with a career in law wrote at 6 a.m. to say she'd just stayed up the entire night reading.

This new thriller, set in the USA and Thailand, has sold over 23,000 books and continues to be one of Mike Fook's best selling books. Today we're knocking the price down so you can read it for less than five dollars, and then pick up the sequel, THAILAND'S SICKEST - HELL TO PAY, also exclusive at Amazon.

Thailand's Sickest is Mike Fook's hard hitting action thriller set in Patong Beach, Phuket, Thailand post 2004 Boxing Day Tsunami.

Dr. Justin Baker, American psychologist on vacation in Thailand, is helping in the aftermath of the devastating tsunami, and finds a backpack full of photos attached to a drowned German on Patong Beach.

After a fit of rage where he uncontrollably kicks the corpse in the head repeatedly to the gasps of rescue onlookers, he begins a surprise journey that leads him into the heart of darkness.

Author Mike Fook has a master's degree in psychology and has spent eight years living in Thailand. "Thailand's Sickest" is the first book in the series.

We're testing this low price to see what happens. Get it today if you love hard-hitting, non-stop, action-thrillers that pull no punches.

Here is a review of Thailand's Sickest from the Navy SEAL I mentioned above:

"Sir for a first work of fiction wowowowowow. This book isn’t for the feint of heart. If you struggle with the reality of what really bad people do, then this book will upset you. If you want a look at what evils this world really has to offer, if you want to see something that isn’t sanitized, or sugar coated, then read this book.

I have been all over the world and have seen my share of the dark side. This book captures the horror.

I liked that Mr. Fook was able to show the difference and varying degrees of bad guys. He was able to show that even the good guys are flawed – and that too is a reality.

Readers, this book will shock you like a dip into an ice filled pool of water. It will make your blood boil and you will want to rage. The sad part is that it is all too real. Just like in reality, sometimes not all the bad guys are caught and sometimes even those we save are never saved."

Here is most of the the email I received from the woman that stayed up all night reading:

Dear Mr. Fook,

My name is Faith-Anne Wagner and I am a 48 year old woman living on the shore of New Jersey. I am an avid mystery / thriller reader and just read Thailand's Sickest in a little less than 24 hours. It is 6:02 a.m. and as I listen to my daughter getting ready for school, I felt compelled to write you and tell you how I felt about what I have just read.

At first I wasn't sure if it was my cup of tea. It scared me, to tell you the truth. But, I couldn't put it down. My husband gets up at 4:00 a.m. for work and when the alarm went off, he was shocked to see me still awake reading. He thought I was nuts!!

Staying up for 24 straight hours to read a book is definitely not in my realm of normalcy. Only one other author (my favorite, Stephen King) has ever made me do it. I think that's why I had to write you. I feel that the 2 decades of reading his work sort of "prepared" me to read your book. It was horrible and brilliant, simultaneously. It made me cry and also made me chuckle at your sense of humor during the most difficult chapters. Please keep writing. You are amazingly gifted and I am putting you up there with SK. Sincerely, Faith-Anne

1.0 out of 5 stars Oh dear! 20 Jan. 2013
    Format:Kindle Edition
This is quite the worst book I have ever (partly) read.

It reads (Then I got up. then I washed and dressed, then I had breakfast type of thing - you get the idea?) like a third-former's diary with excruciatingly boring minutiae of every event in a day, even to the extent of naming bars, streets, cafes and so on on a route taken to a location.

Coupled with this is an horrendously detailed description of how the writer cracked a web site password, this exciting stuff taking up many pages of boring rubbish.

Then we come to the "plot". The subject matter seems to be fixated on Thai Ladyboys: has the author an unhealthy fixation with them?

    I won't elaborate further!

This book costs too much -even free.

    2.0 out of 5 stars Could't finish it 27 Jun. 2012

I didn't like this book, though I somehow continued to read most of it but decided to stop after a while as it became ever more unrealistic.
First chapter, which you can download for free, is very promising but the story goes unfortunately down the hill about in the middle of the book. Towards the end Dr. Justin Baker gives us a lot of technical explanation about computer systems, knifes, cameras, etc., and sometimes repeatedly, which I think doesn't add much value to the story. I read the action packed part of the story as a man's fantasy and didn't think it was very well thought through. But then, maybe it makes more sense when you actually finish the book.

    5.0 out of 5 stars Couldn't put it down 24 July 2013
    Format:Kindle Edition
I loved this book it's fast paced, action packed.

No it's probably not the best written book in the world - but the plot was absolutely brilliant - and I couldn't put it down because I was desperate to know what happened next.

I instantly went on to download the sequel, as I enjoyed the first one so much.

In reference to the negative reviews - a bit too much detail on the cracking of passwords, and where the main character had breakfast, lunch and dinner? well yes perhaps - but it didn't spoil my enjoyment of it at all. In fact by the end of the sequel I almost found myself affectionately wanting to know what he'd had for dinner!

And the graphic nature of the book - yes it is incredibly. I found some of it pretty hard to read - wouldn't recommend if you're sensitive - but ultimately the detail which the author goes into, builds up your hatred even more, and makes you care more passionately about justice for those involved.

Would recommend to anyone who loves action packed thrillers, with a strong stomach!

Hard to put down. Some of the descriptions of abuse are disturbing, as would be expected to a normal person. Great plot, great story line. Would definitely recommend, and is a steal at the current price of £1.53. Would look forward to reading further work by this author.

I was at first a bit weary about reading this book as I knew of the storyline and was worried that I would find parts of it disturbing. However as disturbing as the nature of this book is, you cannot help but enjoy the way it is written as the justice that has unfolded by the end is incredibly satisfying to any reader that wants a good ending.

Fantastic read, am purchasing the follow up (Hell to Pay) as soon as I have posted this review.

Five massive stars from me, well done Mike Fook!

1.0 out of 5 stars Deleted It - Could Not Finish This 22 April 2013
    Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
    Thailand's sickest indeed.

I could not finish reading this book and deleted it from my library. It's a difficult subject for sure but I see no reason why it has to be so graphic. For me, describing those sickening acts in such graphic detail is unnecessary.

Others may see it differently, but I couldn't stomach it.
