Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review

One of the main reasons people visit Thailand is for the scenery and amazing wildlife concentrated along its beautiful coast line--from the hippy resort of Had Rin and the sea Gypsy fishing villages around Koh Surin to the beautiful coral and waterfalls scattered around its coast. Unlike the Lonely Planet Thailand guide, Lonely Planet: Thailand's Islands and Beaches doesn't try to fit in everything you could possibly want to do in Thailand. It gives you what you need to know about the main destinations. It is particularly useful for those interested in diving, with hints on responsible diving and wildlife to avoid and a whole section on Thailand's marine environment including beautiful colour photos. However, it also includes good information on Bangkok where many people either begin or end their journeys.

With Thailand's ever-expanding tourist industry (especially in island and beach areas), a detailed guide is exactly what you need to seek out the best deals and the best places to stay. Whether you're on a large or small budget, looking for that elusive remote "beach" or simply somewhere to chill out for a couple of weeks with plenty of nightlife, this guide will help you find your way. --Caroline Butler --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

This book is an excellent travelling companion, full of useful information on everywhere around the coasts and islands of thailand that you would travel. An essential for all those wanting to clear out the worries of where to stay, what to do, costs and the pitfalls of travelling this beautiful country.

Lonely Planet once again offers essential travel advice for all potential travellers to Thailand. Not only does this guide cover the Islands of Thailand in great depth but also Bangkok with some stunning photographs of the beaches and temples. The book offers sound advice on where to visit and more importantly where not to, informing you of some of the local scams. You can plan your entire Thai holiday with the Lonely Planet using the budget to suit all accommodation guide and the numerous sections on eating out and local attractions including Snorkelling, Diving and Kick Boxing. If you're looking for a reliable and authoritive travel guide to Bangkok and Thailands surrounding islands then look no futher, this is the book for you.

What a waste of time. This book has very little on the interesting things to do or night life around the islands and beeches and is a simple hotel directory. I binned it in Bangkok airport on the way back. While it does provide maps of where the hotels and some places to eat are, it is sadly outdated and anyone who is travelling around the islands would do much better with the Rough Guide to Thailand. As someone who has filled his passport in three years I expect more from Lonely Planet but will now go equiped with Rough Guide's instead.
