This bok really helped me as I read it with my new Thai girlfriend whilst in Thailand. Because it is in Thai on the right of each double page and English on the other you can read it together and discuss each issue together. Issues like the dowry and love came up...always a big issue. As well as meeting the parents...although my expereince was a much more laid back affair than the book suggests. I do wonder if it gave me slight paranoia before going into things...but I will say that if we had any problems we could go straight to the book and it resloved things straight away.

I have since let my parents read it too and any misconceptions or stereotypes have been demystified so far....a MUST if you have links with Thailand and new to it.

I am English and know many Thai people. Western and Thai views of the world are very different and can lead to significant confusion in daily dealings let alone close relationships. Of all the books I have seen on Thai/Western culture conflicts - this is the best.

This is just a must buy for any westerner in a relationship with a thai national. By mistake I ordered two copies which turned out to be a godsend! - My (uk) thai girlfriend has one and I have the other!

Very good book written from a totally neutral standpoint and has given us hours of laughter but I can see that it will save a lot of problems in the future!

If you only ever have one thai book then it should be this one! - Even having spent a lot of time in thailand I still learnt a lot from it and it is great that it is in thai and english so you can read it together.

It seemed to cover all aspects of thai-farang relationships and the explanations where very good indeed.

It answered a LOT of questions that I had in my mind and has enabled us to take our relationship further and on a much higher level with much greater understanding of each other cultures.

This book is well worth ten times what I paid for it!

BTW - I have no connection with the publisher or author in any way.
