Roger Jones has written a wide range of handbooks including How to Get a Job Abroad, How to Get a Job In America, How to Retire Abroad, How to Manage your Career and Dealing with Death, Funerals, Wills and Bereavement (all published by How To Books, Oxford, UK). An experienced traveller whose career has taken him to Europe, the Middle East, Turkey, South East Asia, and the Gulf States, he has written introductions to the cultures of Thailand, Libya and Western Europe (twelve countries) in the Culture Smart series of guides published by Kuperard. He has authored a number of careers titles for Trotman - notably, Real Life Guide Electrician, Real Life Guide Manufacturing & Product Design, Charity and Voluntary Work Uncovered and You Want to Work Where?! - the latter dealing with short term employment opportunities abroad. He has written two works of fiction: Festival in Glimbridge (about a literature festival which goes hilariously wrong) and The Reluctant Santa Claus (a sort of 21st century A Christmas Carol but without ghosts!) These two titles are now available as ebooks (Kindle, Smashwords, etc).
Roger reviews concerts and edits newsletters; he is a UK editor for the international classical music reviews website Seen & Heard International (part of Musicweb International.
In addition to his literary activities he has been an English teacher and lecturer in the UK and overseas, a bookseller, a refugee reception centre administrator and has undertaken miscellaneous other activities on both a professional and voluntary basis. He serves on a number of committees mostly involving the arts and is a convenor for the local Society of Authors group. He lives in Gloucestershire, UK and is butler and valet to a cat called Rosita.
