A holiday of a life time to the ''Land of Smiles'' for my friend Adam, an opportunity to re-examine his mundane existence away from the worst & most depressed place in the UK, Middlesbrough in the North East of England. But what exactly is it about this exotic corner of the world that causes normally sane, level-headed individuals to consider throwing away everything they have achieved after only one or two visits to Thailand. This documentary film looks closely at the life changing experiences Thailand can provide. Temptation, lust and desire on every corner. For Adam it was just a holiday, a holiday that turns his life upside down, unaware of the physiological dangers that lay ahead of him as adapting back to your old life can be devastating. Watch as Adam's reality becomes entangled with fantasy in which life changing decisions have to be made in which Adam finds himself Torn Between Two Worlds.

1.0 out of 5 stars miserable, 6 Jan 2012
This review is from: Thailand: Torn Between Two Worlds (Pattaya Documentary Feature Film 09) (DVD)
Jesus, the main character is a sad miserable man from the north, goes to Thailand and is still miserable, comes home still miserable, goes back to Thailand for 3 weeks and trys to get a job teaching and is surprised that he cant get a job because he has no experience, no qualifications and can not speak Thai. this is probably the worst film about Thailand i have ever had the misfortune in watching, it is depressing, miserable and the lead man is about as exciting as watching paint dry.

this is a really good documentary about Adam and his old friend's two trips to Thailand. the first time is just a holiday to help Adam get out of his rut in the UK. on returning to the UK, he's full of enthusiasm for returning to Thailand to live. well made and very entertaining, it eventually turns out that Adam finds what he really likes in the UK and does indeed escape from his old humdrum existance, so it has a happy ending. i followed a similar path in my life in certain respects and also spent 8 1/2 months in Thailand over 3 trips and now live in Japan, so Asia is for me but not Adam. he found his heart in the beautiful Lake District. well worth watching.
