The most useful book I used during my 10 visits to Thailand!,

I find the layout exremely helpful and the method of transliteration (i.e. the method of writing the Thai script into understandable English script to produce pronouncable sounds) easily understandable. I have compared it to other phrasebooks available in Thai bookshops and using this as a benchmark I decided not to buy the others. I am frequently told that my Thai pronunciation is good, despite the difficulties "falangs" (Westerners) have with the all-important Thai tones. If I could improve the book in any way, for me, it would be to increase the number of Thai/English words in the dictionary section. However for most people on holiday in Thailand it is an excellent start. I use a larger dictionary written in Thai script and English to continue my learning. This book travels everywhre with me in Thailand, and returns home with me every time.

Excellent and useful phrase book for those travelling to Thailand. It's full of useful phrases, tips and hints and especially pronunciation. It's a 'must have' for travellers to this lovely country.

Poor Kindle conversion, limited dictionary.,

I bought this book in Kindle format because there were two good reviews of the paper version. The Kindle version is poor and we did not find it useful. The font is varied sizes apparently driven by the number of words on the original paper page; some is so small as to be unreadable, the next page may be unnecessarily large. The dictionary (it is headlined as a dictionary) is a sample of words useful for travellers, not a dictionary by my definition, we found some 75% of the words we wanted were not there. It needs a lot more work to make it suitable for electronic use including searching. I was using much better electronic publications 10 years ago so the knowledge is out there somewhere. It is a poor advert for Kindle.
