More About the Author

Katherine Sorrell is a journalist and author who specialises in interiors, lifestyle and craft. She trained in news journalism and spent several years covering dog shows and jumble sales on a local paper before doing stints in TV research, sub-editing and even on a cartoon newspaper (brilliant but sadly short-lived). She finally found her niche when she took a job at Elle Decoration magazine, which led to a freelance career writing for many of the UK's leading interiors titles and an impressive range of books. After a very happy few years as features editor of Homes & Gardens magazine, Katherine downshifted in 2002 and now lives with her artist husband and their three children in Cornwall, where their Georgian house is decorated in an eclectic mix of antique, vintage and modern furniture.

As an interior design student I am finding this book very useful. It provides a wealth of information on a wide variety of colours and textures with tips on how to combine and use them effectively. Pictures of interiors are impressive and the little detachable flap book of 600 textures and paint swatches is really handy.A must- have for amateurs and a useful aid for those working in the field of interior design
