(Veterinary Practice, 1 February 2012)

This item is defiantly better than the 4th edition, which Im sure they didn't think about before publishing as it had either nothing or very little included on equine and exotics, however they have resolved this 'minor' issue in this edition.

Now the book has majority of the stuff directly copied from the 4th edition but you can't blame them for this and the exotics and equine on top. I must admit though there appears to be a greater range of images in this edition compared to the 4th edition which does come in helpful when studying. The content does follow the level 3 diploma in veterinary nursing however it is still a 'basic' textbook and further reading is defiantly needed to get a broader understanding of the subject in my opinion, which will be needed for your exams, probably more so in diagnostic imaging and A&P side of things.

Overall a helpful book and the way the book explains and describes different subjects is a lot easier to understand now compared to the 4th edition. I could not for the life of me understand genetics from the 4th edition even the vet I work with said it was awfully explained. But the majority of things are sorted.

I would defiantly advise and is a must have for any veterinary nursing student, the exams were equine orientated "hint hint".

I ordered this book on Monday and took advantage of the Amazon Prime free trial offer, giving me free next day delivery, confirmed as 16/10/12.
The book did not arrive on the expected day instead it arrived today 17/10/12. Upon opening my much anticipated book I was surprised to find the celophane wrapper split open, the outer box showed no signs of damage. The corners of the book were damaged slightly. When I began to leaf through the book I also found a torn page and some crumpled pages.
This book was sold as new at a considerable price from Amazon. The content of the book is excellent, that is not the issue I have. I have the 3rd edition of this book on my shelf at home and it is fair to say that having been used through my college course 6 years ago, my copy is still in better condition than my newly delivered book. I will be returning this copy to Amazon and expect to have a replacement in mint condition returned to me.
DO NOT let my review put you off this brilliant learning resource, I am purely disappointed in the poor condition of the copy delivered to me for just under £50.

It's a good base for studying but, for my own course anyway, the anatomy & physiology sections weren't as in-depth as I required. It required supplementation with other resources. Since I'm studying in Ireland though some sections were irrelevant or not applicable but overall this is the best Vet Nursing book I've come across so far.

Bought this book for my daughter who is just about to take her first year exams as a student vet nurse. She already has the fourth edition but the course has recently changed and it doesn't cover all the modules. Book arrived within days of ordering and WOW!!!! when we opened it. Not only does it cover everything from the old course and the new course, it has so much detail in both text and pictures. Any type of learner will find this book invalueable. It even has revision guides at the back.

The contents of the book is brilliant. But i love my book and was very disappointed when i found that the book was really damaged. the whole thing looked like it had been pushed into something and every page had ripples in it now.

But the contents of the book was exactly what i was looking for ! very clear, and has everything in it. I would defiantly recommend it.

When my daughter opened her christmas present - this book, she pointed out that some of the pages were 'ruffled' and the binding wasn't in the best of condition. She didn't want to return and wait for a replacement new book. So, just a tad disappointed about the condition the book arrived in.

Any veterinary nurse or veterinary nurse student must have one of these books ! It has vast amounts of knowledge and covers basically all topics that veterinary nurses need to know, although not in as much detail as books dedicated to that particular subject but it is a brilliant starter read ! Xxx

Great book in an easy to read and simple format. Great to gain a basic understanding, more research/reading needed as detail is limited in places. Contains everything from communication and health and safety to nursing skills and study skills.
