Synopsis

Dr Lad teaches a systematic method for identifying the causes of illness and the stages in which a disease unfolds. This paradigm of cause and effect (etiology and pathogenesis) is the key to understanding how disease can be prevented through awareness of the subtle energetic disturbances that precede structural or functional damage. Sharing from a wealth of clinical experience, Dr Lad presents principles and methods of assessment using a combination of the most helpful Ayurvedic and modern techniques.

This is a must for any serious student of Ayurveda. Not a book for beginners as it includes in depth description of treatments using a lot of sanskrit and technical terminology. A workable knowledge of Ayurveda and it's terminology is recommended. I found it invaluable for my studies and it is something I will use as a reference book that I will dip in and out of rather than a general read. The author is a leading expert and so the wealth of knowledge this book contains is well worth the price. Well written, highly recommended.

You can't go wrong with Dr. Lad 8 May 2008
By Amarrna Sunreaver - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover Verified Purchase
I have this textbook as well as volume 1 and the minute volume 3 is released, later in the year, I will have that one too. This book is really great, straight and true Ayurveda with no "extra stuff" and all the knowledge Dr. Lad generally packs into his books. They are also easy to read which makes learning Ayurveda easier.

Essential for serious students of Ayurveda 29 April 2012
By Claudia Welch - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover
Dr. Lad was instrumental in introducing Ayurveda to the West. Over the past three decades has immersed us in the basics of Ayurveda and, with Volume 1, 2 and 3 of his textbooks, he is walking serious students of Ayurveda ever closer to being able to understand and practice more advanced Ayurvedic concepts and techniques. He is a rare and precious gift. All three volumes of his textbooks are reflections of this and essential for serious students of Ayurveda.

This book is really good. It is written very artistically and it takes the boredom out of textbooks and I would know I have studied many science textbooks (memorised). The book is really well written. I am studying Ayurveda and this book is a total godsend. Enjoy.
