Book Description

17 Feb 2013 Texas Soul
Gresh is on his deathbed and Lane is swimming in guilt. Will Riley's comfort and love be too tempting for Lane with Gresh in a coma? A new cowboy, Kip, has come to town and he's got his sights set on one of the cowboys, but the man is straight and Kip doesn't know if he wants to date another closet case. Winning over his new lover and getting him to open up may prove to be too much. Tragedy strikes the ranch and everyone has to pull together, but can they outwit the crazy stalker that is after Kip and his new beau? The fifth book in the Texas Soul Series is packed with answers, but a can of worms is opened and can't be closed. Find out how hot it gets in Texas as Riley pushes Lane for a relationship, leaving Connor wondering if he even mattered to Riley at all.

3.0 out of 5 stars LOTS going on... 25 Feb 2013
By Sam E
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Ok this the latest book in the Texas Soul installments. There is A LOT going on in this. A LOT. Maybe too much I'm not sure. Anyway to understand this you would really need to read the others.

The story picks up from the last book. Immediately. There has been a helicopter crash involving Gesh and his father. Jump, Bruce, Lane all witness it. To review this book properly I will have to discuss parts of the book which might be considered spoilers. So...

Gesh has survived by the skin of his teeth. Lane is beside himself. Riley is in love with Lane, Connor is getting attention from a hot Ranger, Jump & Bruce are newly weds and facing the prospect of maybe having to run Gesh's business and Jamie (the ranch manager) who isn't gay is all of a dither over Kip the new stud in town.

We get a few more disasters thrown in for good measure in the book and then you get the final few paragraphs. Sorry but there is critism about this book ending. Do I agree? No. It's right. Sara York is one of the one authors I have read recently who doesn't shy away from a cliff hanger of an ending... and you know I liked it. I agreed with it. The character involved in the ending was never my favourite - maybe I'm biased but I was happy with it.

I can't wait for the next. I hope certain characters get their HEA (I'm talking Connor here). If you have read the others read this one. One complaint? Jamie and Kip should of had their own story without everything else going on... and there is lots going on.

5.0 out of 5 stars Texas Desire 6 Sep 2013

I read the second book first, and then the first one second. Would I enjoy them I did actually better than I thought I would. Yes I 'll read them again, but the correct way this time around.
Recommend them so that others can make up their own mind about these two novels.
Nice romance though in the stories which I enjoyed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Stuff 8 April 2013

Texas Rough, Hard, Twist, Branded & Desire are all really enjoyable reads easy to get into not to taxing on the gray matter. Having said that the relationships are quite complicated & all the characters have a real depth to them and some of the situations had me gripping my kindle very tightly. I've read them all at least twice.

1.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed 21 Feb 2013
By Jennifer L. Cowan - Published on Amazon.com

spoiler alert
I have read all the books in this series and really looked forward to each book coming out. No longer.

I realize Riley was in love with Lane but his entire behavior this book just seemed out of character and was turning him into the bad guy. Then to have it end the way it did, I am just beyond disappointed and wish I never started the series.

2.0 out of 5 stars Hmmmm.... 11 Mar 2013
By Ken and Bethany - Published on Amazon.com

One of the things I have loved about this series was the promising map of 'love outside the box' as you'll see in my review for the previous book. I almost feel like (true or not) the author caved to the people who disliked the moresome direction that the first two couples were taking here and decided to attempt to 'fix' it. I kind of feel like, in doing so, she basically assassinated one of the primary characters of the series. I don't feel like the behaviour of said character was even remotely in line with what we've seen in the past, and we didn't really get to see things from his point of view enough to understand why his view might have changed.

In addition, I'm going to comment on the primary romance here; I feel like Kip and Jamie were two of the strongest characters introduced in this series so far.... And we barely got to see them. I mean, we did, but really.... another 30-50 pages would have done this book good. Of course, for a buck a book, I feel like a total lech asking for more, so....

I also felt like there was an attempt to plug as many traumatic experiences into a short novel/long novella as possible. WAAAAY beyond the realm of believability. But, as I stated in my previous review, this series is a guilty pleasure, and every time I find myself rolling my eyes, I remind myself: WILLING SUSPENSION OF DISBELIEF and I let myself get swept along again, so it's all good. Still..... I can see this being difficult for some to go with.

I guess I'm waiting to see what happens in the next book. I don't feel like the ending was quite as definitive as others have made it out to be. Certainly not a whole lot more definitive than ending on the previous book. That said, I'm a bit worried about how many pages the next lead couple is going to end up with.....

4.0 out of 5 stars Good book, ending is a bit raw. 16 Feb 2013

I have enjoyed all the Texas Soul books. This one is a peek into the lives of all the couples from the past books in the series plus a new couple. The ending was hard to take, and I did not expect it at all. I do not know how several of the people in the series are going to recover from this but I guess that just means I will have to read the next book.

5.0 out of 5 stars SHE HAS ANOTHER HIT!!! 20 Feb 2013
By Sue Allen Milkovich - Published on Amazon.com

It's another outstanding achievement this book was worth the wait. It picks up with the helicopter crash and the story is based on Lane and Gresh. But the story is revolving around them in the lives of all the people they love. It had a overall feeling of sadness throughout because of the crash. There's some interesting new characters introduced who spice up things. Some very interesting twist and turns. I found the cliffhanger ending absolutely heartbreaking and sure to have me waiting anxiously for the next book!!!

1.0 out of 5 stars Hated it 25 Feb 2013
By S. F. - Published on Amazon.com

I looked forward to this book after reading all the others and was wondering how the author was going to work out all the relationships given the turn it had taken in previous books. I hated the fact that in this book all of a sudden RIley became the bad guy and yet he was being honest..............and then to get rid of him ...........just pathetic.

I will no longer be purchasing any books in this series - I am telling myself that this is just a book but it is like the authors removed all Riley's integrity and did not even give him a voice. All of a sudden Connor realises he wants more from Riley when all four of them made the decision about sharing each other ...... and Lane, where does he get off deciding that Riley is being selfish because he still loves him ....... Honestly, this book just left a bad taste in my mouth and to end it that way, wow, it is like the author is saying, sorry, you love someone, you die!!!
