Teva waterproof E-vent shoes 4 Feb. 2013

Very comfortable right out of the box and they look great. A little on the warm side which is not unusual for a waterproof shoe. If you want cool/breezy shoes then opt for the non-waterproof version- they fit the same, breathe better, have the same sole but look less stylish (nylon mesh). Although they are marketed as hiking shoes I think the suede would get thrashed on a trail. I use these around town when it is wet out. Excellent traction. Great shoe.

Comfy, but they run a little small and hot 1 July 2013
By TK - Published on Amazon.com
Colour Name: 11 UKSize: 11 UK Verified Purchase
Comfy right out of the box, so no break-in seems to be required. I'm usually a 13, sometimes a 12.5...so decided to go with a 13. My toes barely touch the end of the toe box, so they run a little small. Hope they will become a bit more roomy as they break in.

Also, even though I have nice merino wool hiking socks, they seem to get a little steamy. I knew they wouldn't breathe as well as the non-waterproof version, but they don't seem to breathe as well as any of my previous fully-waterproof hikers either. I have Gore-Tex Ecco lightweight hikers and Gore-Tex Head heavy-duty hiking boots and neither of them are as toasty as these.

UPDATE 7/29/13: I returned the 13s for 14s and now they fit really well...just like the rest of my size 13 shoes. Since switching to the bigger size I have not noticed that they run as hot as the previous pair. All in all, I am quite happy with them and the soles have excellent grip.

My only complaint/wish is that they need a little more protection in the forefoot to protect the balls of the feet from rocks on the trail. I recently took them on a 9 mile hike with 3200 ft of vertical and could feel everything on the trail. By the end of the hike the balls of my feet were really tender and ready to be done for the day. A lightweight rock plate (like those that are often built into good trail running shoes) would be great.

A light hikers dream 23 Mar. 2011

Love these shoes. They have a wide toe box and narrow heal--perfect for me. I took out the sole and put in a pair of Superfeet. Work great together. I've done several 15-milers and now problem. I liked them so much, I bought another pair to walk 700 miles of the Camino de Santiago this summer.

Great looking low-cut boot 11 Oct. 2012
By Sledman - Published on Amazon.com
Colour Name: 8 UKSize: 8 UK Verified Purchase
I ordered these boots after reading the reviews and comparing them to similar styles by other manufacturers. The first thing that caught my eye was the look. These boots look even better in person then in the photos. They are all leather/suede with a sturdy rubber toe cover. The Vibram soles have a great tread that gives you a feeling of confidence on slippery trials. Even brand new they feel broken in, like a trusted pair of weathered boots.

Actual Use:

My first hike in these was a local North Georgia trail called Raven Cliffs, about 7 miles total with a few steep inclines (treacherous at the end) and lots of wet areas. It had rained a day before our hike and light rain during the hike so the ground was moist and in some areas muddy. These boots performed great, kept me on the trail and kept my feet comfortable the whole time. I spent some time in a stream to take a few pictures and can testify that they are indeed waterproof. Almost fully submerged (over the tongue) for about 10 minutes not a drop of water got in the shoe. They also come pre treated with Scotch-Guard which was noticeable as the water rolled right off. Also the Vibram soles lived up to there reputation. They had good grip in the mud and were stable on wet rocks and branches. I had no issues with sweaty feet at all so that speaks for the breathability of the shoes (I normally sweat in sneakers/shoes). I did have some rubbing on the back ankle of my right foot. This could be part of breaking them in however I also wasn't wearing the proper socks for the hike. Subsequent hikes (in proper socks) felt no rubbing at all.

On The Street:

After the hike we walked around the local town (Helen) for a bit and the boots performed well on flat pavement. No slipping or cramping and because of the looks/style of the boot, they fit right in everywhere I went (they don't scream HIKING BOOTS!)

Conclusion:

Overall I am extremely satisfied with these boots and hope they continue making them for years to come. They are so comfortable and look so good I want to wear them as my daily shoe, but will restrain and use them just for hikes. The fit and finish on them is superb and they look much more expensive then they are. If you want a low-cut hiking boot that feels great, performs admirably and looks fantastic then these are the boots for you.

I love these shoes 17 Mar. 2012

The pair of Teva Events I bought over Amazon is my second pair of these shoes. I am still wearing my first pair almost every day but I wanted to get a second pair now rather than wait for the first to wear out because these are the best shoes I have ever worn. They are extremely comfortable, providing lots of good support for my arches, but the reason I love them the most is because they keep my feet warm even in pretty cold weather. Cold feet has been a big issue for me for a long time (I am 60 years old next month) with most shoes especially in cold weather but sometimes even in more moderate weather, but not with these shoes. I also like the fact that they do no necessarily look like hiking shoes. I can wear them with every day casual wear with no problem. And yes, they work great for hiking too.
