Lost the plot in Buenos Aires, 20 Nov 2007
This review is from: Testosterone [DVD] [Region 1] [US Import] [NTSC] (DVD)
Why did Pablo leave Dean? Who was Sofia and why was she working in the cafe? Why didn't Dean jump the tasty bellboy who gets him some weed? In the end, who cares? A cute cast doesn't make up for a muddled plot and very average acting in this lump of a film. Even the rather boring 'twist' at the end doesn't compensate for 90-odd wasted minutes.

Dark and Ironic, 16 April 2009
This review is from: Testosterone [DVD] [Region 1] [US Import] [NTSC] (DVD)
I loved this movie! It's a dark, ironic and quite voilent little flick, that stands out in the ever so average gay family stuff, that is offered as good filmmaking to adults in the last few years.
If you liked "Pulp Fiction", watch this! If you liked "True Romance", watch this! If you like to see gorgeous men do more than just raise children together, watch this! If you like smart, gorgeous, funny ladies, who know how to use a gun, watch this. If you like your movies intelligent, juicy and moody, watch this. Oh, and if you like to see Antonio Sabato Jr. taking his shirt and pants off a lot, you should really watch this!
Jennifer Coolidge gives what may very well be her best comic performance ever and Spiderwoman Sonia Braga knows why she could not turn down her part in "Testosterone". She's amazing in this, very funny and subtly brutal.
To sum it up: This is something else, something really good.

"Testosterone" has two features that many others gay theme movies can only dream of: good actors (well, majority of the cast) and not the lowest budget.
However, "Testosterone" fits "those many others" films well. And I mean "well" in negative meaning.
The plot's character is hard to describe. At some moments it seems to be a dark and gloomy (with kind of light and entertaining music in background...wth???).
Then, some events are showed as if the whole enterprise was nothing more than a poor parody of a thriller...
I don't even mention the final, because it is ages since I have seen such a dumb ending.
Second star for Sonia Braga, who potrays bitchy mother of "lost in action" argentinean lover.
