I really can`t believe I`m the first to rate this book. It is, in my opinion, a true classic, and has been around for years and years, going in and out of print in the UK, mainly due to the fact the Morrell has never really taken off over here.

The main character of the book, a man named Reuben, has been given the chance to write an article on an underground network. Though he has promissed not to show them in a bad light, he decides nevertheless to publish the raw truth about their ruthlessness and determination.

Morrell wastes no time in getting the action underway, and within a few pages the reader will find that Reuben is now the networks number 1 target. Nothing and no-one is going to stop them getting their man. They have no fear and no shame. And there are no limits as to what they are prepared to do!

Raw action from the first few pages, this novel is a true thriller and deserves a place on any action seekers bookshelf!

If ever there was a blueprint for comercial thrillers set out for up and coming writers,David Morrells
TESTAMENT would be it.From the off no time is wasted in drawing the reader in to the main characters
and their motivations,Morrell deliberatley paints a picture of inevitable dread from the Bourne family's
point of view as the realisation of their predicament hits them in a series of shocking events that send them
on the run into the wilderness. As with Morrell's first book 'FIRST BLOOD' the landscape the manhunt takes
place in isn't just a backdrop to the story but very much a character, richly described by the author as the
protagonists make the way through the most extreme of weather conditions in a beautiful yet hostile landscape
relentlesly pursued by a mostly (at first) unseen enemy.
You will be constantly suprised as the story pans out at the lack of predictability, unlike most mordern
thrillers where you can have a stab at where the story and characters may go,with The TESTAMENT Morrell takes
you into the heart of darkness as characters you care for are mercilesly hunted down with a blatant disregard for cliches,
heroes arrive in the most unexpected way.I have kept this review spoiler free so as not to taint the journey you will
take if you pick up TESTAMENT.
Be warned; once you read this or FIRST BLOOD like me you will become a lifelong fan of the author that will lead you to Morrells
masterpeice trilogy :BROTHERHOOD OF THE ROSE,FRATERNITY OF THE STONE and THE LEAGUE OF NIGHT AND FOG.
Buckle up and enjoy the journey!

Excellent Book 23 Dec 2000
By Jamie - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback
This book is very disturbing. Early in David's career he wrote stories where the hero didn't always win, and the line between the heros and the villains was much less easily seen.

Interestingly enough this book is somewhat 'hypothetically autobiographical' (I think I made that up). The story involves a character who is a writer who has studied survival skills for his first book (like David did for First Blood) and is then put into a situation where his life and his families depend on those skills. And it's not just survival skills like living off the land and finding shelter, it's dealing with weapons and booby traps and also how to evade a pursuer.

Considering the somewhat disturbing turns of events in the book it makes the autobiographical nature seem a little odd. Suffice it to say that I understand that David's wife did not like that the book depicted them so well in light of the direction the story takes. I think for that aspect the book is fascinating.

FYI, this book was not actually written in 1993 as the publication date suggests but was actually written in 1975 and was David's second book after First Blood.

If you like good suspense and action, and David always delivers on both fronts, then you should try this book.

Unforgettable! 28 Feb 2001
By James - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback
This is the first time I have ever reviewed anything on the internet, I gues I never felt the passion that I feel about this book. There seems to be alot of mixed review of this book which surprises me. I remember the first time I ever read this book, I was interrupted by an exam I had to take and had to set down the book for several months. After finally getting back to the book months later, I picked up where I left off, to my surprize I remembered every last detail. It is just one of those books that creaps up on you and won't let you be. It has been a good 7 years since I read it and I have to say it is still the best novel I have read to date. I am a big fan of David Morrell, but this novel is the leader of the pack. To start off it has by far the most shocking oppenner I have ever read in any book and the ending leaves you thinking. Out of all the books I've read this one stands out the most, definately Unforgettable. I still to this date remember the book, and every scene vividly.

Thought provoking 14 May 2000
By Colin W. Stewart III - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback
This book is extremely fast paced and somewhat disturbing. It is one of those page turners that keeps you up all night reading and tired at work the next day. The introduction by Morrell makes you wonder about the stories ending. It's ending is unexpected and if you go back and read the last 2 or 3 paragraphs of the introduction, you have something that keeps you thinking about the book for 2 or 3 days. I highly recommend this book and any other book written by Morrell
