There are ten chapters. Each starts with the story of an extraordinary experience or phenomenon, from premonitions that came true to the powers of mind over matter. This is followed by directions for carrying out both simple and more complicated experiments. Some can be easily done at home on your own, while others are better suited to groups of friends or students. Many are ideal for school or college projects. Simple statistics are explained and tables given for working out the significance your results. The book would be a useful text for simple courses on experimental design or critical thinking.
Why did we write the book? Adam and I have both had years of experience hunting for psychic phenomena - me as an academic parapsychologist carrying out experiments and studying case reports, and he as a television producer, making programmes like Arthur C Clarkes World of Strange Powers. And we both had the same experience - that the more we investigated the more skeptical we became. I have often found myself arguing with people that psychic phenomena probably do not exist. But I might be wrong, and I would rather that other people formed their own opinion. The only way to do that properly is to try some experiments for yourself. I hope you enjoy them.
