Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review

Like DJ Shadow or ex-Tricky singer Alison Goldfrapp, London's Attica Blues create sweet, flowing dance music that neatly assimilates the multi-cultural influences the band have been exposed to during their lives. African music, stripped-back hip hop, jazz, soul, softly-sung R&B, laid back trip hop: all these sounds and more can be heard weaving in and out of the grooves on their second album, Test Don't Test. The melancholy "It's Not Enough" showcases the sultry vocals of Eygpt-born Roba El-Essawy to stunning effect; "Just An Avenue" could almost be early 1970s Blaxploitation film-noir courtesy of programmer Tony Nwachukwu's delicate sleight-of-hand. Test Don't Test is the sound of a band growing in both confidence and stature--once over-shadowed by the success of their previous label Mo' Wax, now Attica Blues have an identity they can truly claim for themselves. --Jerry Thackray

I only bought this CD yesterday - I must confess I've been playing and replaying it over and over again since! A wonderful blend of beats and stunning vocals kept me entertained for the duration of the CD. The stand out track must be 'Its not enough.'Perfect music for chilling out to, preferably with friends and a few drinkies...fantastic.

Brilliant album 11 April 2002

I have to say this was my favourite album of 2000, a real gem that did not come accompanied by massive fanfare and media hype. Lyrically it is very strong, the running theme is a maturing of mind within relationships. Outstanding tracks on here are the rnb fused "What Do You Want", the manic "The Man", lyrically superb "Security" and the outstanding "It's Not Enough" which is beautiful. Attica Blues are certainly a band that are going places. More of this in the national charts would cheer me up no end.

attica blues amazing music and the stunning vocals of Roba make other music sound positively impoverished by comparison. This album is ten times as good as their previous self titled first album, which has already become a classic as far as discerning music livers are concerned.
