Product Description
Players are tasked to collect and return five of the missing Great Spells to the University. Each player selects one of four Guilds to infiltrate, Thieves, Assassins, Alchemists or Fools. Their chosen Guild card will give them a specific selection of the Great Spells to collect and grants them a unique Guild Ability which can be used to hinder their opponents. It is also used to mark the players’ Charm, Guild and Magic abilities, which can be developed throughout the game.Time is short, so rather than returning each Spell in person, the players have been granted the power to recruit the good, and not so good, inhabitants of the city to act as guards and runners to protect and return the Spells to the University. There are fourteen locations on the board where players may Charm (or Bribe) Volunteers to join them on their quest.

This is a great fun game. It captures the magic and feel of Discworld perfectly. The artwork is also superb. Have played it many times with friends who have and haven't read the books and everyone enjoyed it. 5 stars!!!

This is a great game but be prepared to be attached to the instructions for the first few times you play it. The complex nature of the game allows for some sort of cheating, but be careful as everyone else will be also.

The "Guards! Guards!" board-game is an exceptionally fun way to spend a few hours together with friends or family. The game-play is highly detailed, the flavor text is very amusing, and the board/piece set itself is of fairly high quality and appeal. If you are a fan of Terry Prachett's works, this game will no doubt suit your interests. However, if you are not a fan of the Diskworld (or if you simply are unaware that you are a fan...yet), you will discover an exciting, fun filled way to spend your time playing the game, while receiving good laughs from the entire games wonderful flavor! Overall, I rate this game an excellent purchase and I offer only one bit of advice to potential buyers, "Don't take the plastic stands off of the dragon cards once in place! There is more than enough room in the box to leave them on and, if you do take them off, they will strip some of the card surface from the bottom of the cards." Enjoy!

Even as someone who loves board games, I was a little befuddled by the instructions. We all took turns trying to 'get it' and finally recruited a boardgame-expert friend to explain just how this thing worked. We enjoyed it as a family who enjoy's Pratchett's books, but the game play is not overly clever. There isn't much of a strategy that can be built or long term goals that can be achieved. Still, the cards and artwork were fun, and if the instructions were better written I think its overall an amusing investment for fans. There are enough in-jokes to keep the laughs coming. We had a good time playing it, so that counts for a lot.
