I`m very lucky to have the hardback edition of this nicely presented monograph on the late Terry Frost.

This large-format volume is a pleasure to look through, very well illustrated with many of the works in colour; his sculpture, design work and printmaking is covered along with his paintings and drawings and there are also many documentary photos of the artist at home and at work.
There are essays and texts from several artists and art commentators making this probably the best and most comprehensive volume on the artist currently available.
Frost was one of that second wave of St Ives-based artists who came to prominence with the post-war development of British abstract painting around the same time as American Abstract Expressionism; the influence of those British painters is often downplayed, but the Americans were very well aware of them and paid close attention to what they were doing. Frost was to spend some time in the 60`s working and teaching in the USA.
Frost's later works were popular enough to appear as posters, on notebook covers and mugs - not bad for an abstract artist - his work has always been instantly recognisable and his deceptively simple compositions are based on a well thought-out visual language.

If you know Frost's work you`ll want this book; if you just want to discover the work of a fine and important British abstract artist one can learn from, I can certainly recommend this.
