Product Description

A Claire Gulliver Mystery

The first book in the Claire Gulliver Mystery series, Tea is for Terror, finds Claire co-sponsoring a tour of England with her friend and travel book author, Lucy Springer. Lucy’s latest book, An Armchair Traveler’s Adventure, and the tour, are aimed at wannabe travelers who haven’t yet ventured out of the United States. The “untour,” as they call it, follows the book’s agenda, testing the itinerary while verifying the data contained in the manuscript for the final edit.

Before the trip even begins, it becomes apparent that someone has a hidden agenda. A freak accident renders Lucy unable to travel, and Claire reluctantly agrees to lead the “untour.” She is relying on the professional tour guide who will meet them in London.

The reader joins this “untour” as it wends through the countryside of England and Wales. But they are plagued with strange events, accidents, and a “misadventure.” Oddly enough, despite all the problems encountered, the remaining members are thrilled with the trip and eager to travel again now that they’ve completed their virgin journey. But the “untour” isn’t over yet.

Lucy never said it could be like this!

Very Good Travel Mystery 30 May 2010

I enjoyed this book very much; it kept my interest and included a good climax. The story revolved around a travel group who took their first trip abroad - England. I have been to many of the places they visited so that was especially enjoyable to read about. This group runs into a few "issues" during their two week adventure. Claire, the main character, had to "keep it together" for all the travelers in the group and for herself. I just purchased the next in the series "Washington Weirdos" for the Kindle.

Claire Gulliver is a charming slueth 21 April 2006
By Marilyn Meredith - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
I just finished Gayle Wigglesworth's "Washington Wierdos" and realized I'd read "Tea for Terror" at an earlier time. What I like best about the heroine Claire Gulliver is that she is a likeable and quite ordinary person who reacts to her inner voice. Ms. Wigglesworth does a great job of letting us see all the places Claire visits and the people around her. This is really a fun read.

Dull and Stilted 11 Jan 2011
By D. M. Whipp - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
Based on the great reviews, I purchased this book for my Kindle. Normally, I finish books in a day or so, but this one was so boring, it took nearly a week. I had to force myself to finish it so I could move on to something good. I found the characters, including heroine Claire Gulliver, incredibly dull. The dialogue was painfully stiff and unnatural. With so many characters on the tour to England, I was amazed at the lack of variation in speaking style. The mystery here is pretty dull too and I found the resolution unsatisfying. I'm a huge Agatha Christie fan and enjoy cozies, period mysteries and contemporary mysteries, but wouldn't recommend this book to anyone unless they're suffering from insomnia.
