Product Description

Manufacturer's Description

The Cinergy T USB XXS is the mobile DVB-T tuner in a compact size. Just connect it to your USB 2.0 port, and the small stick receives television and radio via DVB-T. The receiver draws its power from the USB port - a separate power adapter is not required. Of course, a remote control and an antenna are included. This product is ideal for watching TV on your laptop while on the go, but equally useful for at-home viewing on your desktop. With TerraTec home cinema, powerful TV software for time shifting TV programs and digital recording with edit function is included in the scope of delivery. Your computer promptly comes out of standby or hibernation mode when needed and then goes back into hibernation once the recording is completed. The integrated electronic program guide assists you in programming. Additional innovations, such as automatic adjustment of the aspect ratio, recording of Dolby digital, video text and subtitles, individually adjustable lists of favorites (genre, location) as well as picture-in-picture and network streaming make it easy and convenient to experience the many benefits of watching TV on your computer. And all of the functions can be easily configured via remote control, keyboard or mouse.

+ves: Brilliant tuner on external aerial (not tried supplied internal aerial as these are generally useless), works so much better than the slightly cheaper one I bought previously from a local chain electronics shop. This is so sensitive it picked up almost as many channels as the TV itself, nearly 80, compared to just 16 channels with previous tuner.

-ves: Price just gone up by £10. The provided software is just 'ok' (which is nearly always the case with TV tuners). Works alright with Media Centre (Vista) until you unplug it, then you have to re-scan which is a pain. Also remote doesn't seem to work with Media Centre unlike a lot of other tuners.

4/5 - lost a star for the inconvenience.

    UPDATE

Remote does actually work with Media Centre afterall, you have to run the other piece of software that comes with it and tell it to work with MC... therefore much nearer 5 stars

this is worth having providing you can plug in a properoutside arial, without it, no tv will come thru, the little arial supplied is worse than useless, i am hoping that when i go in hospital i can plug into the hospital communeal arial, as supplied to rented sets in the wards.

Terratec does what it says on the tin with this device.

Strong reception with a decent aerial and flawless tuning with Media Center. Included software a bit clunky, but that's always been my impression of tuner software. Microsoft's own Media Center cannot be beat.

Lacks second tuner, a bit of a limitation in the current market.
