Box set of all 39 episodes from Gerry Anderson's 1980s Supermarionation series. In 'Expect the Unexpected (Part 1)' Queen Zelda attacks and destroys a NASA Mars expedition. 'Expect the Unexpected (Part 2)' sees Zelda offer to make peace with the Terrahawks. 'Thunder Roar' finds the Terrahawks battling the mighty Sram, Lord of Felony. 'Close Call' has an investigative reporter threaten to expose the Terrahawks on worldwide television. In 'From Here to Infinity' the Terrahawks help guide an old nuclear rocket back to Earth. 'Space Samurai' sees Zelda enter into underhand negotiations with Tamura, the Space Samurai. 'The Sporilla' has Zelda unleash a deadly metal-eating monster on her enemies. 'Happy Madeday' finds the Terrahawks menaced by the Master of Infinite Disguise. In 'Gunfight at Oak's Corral' the Terrahawks go looking for a cube in the desert. 'The Ugliest Monster of All' has Zelda send a highly dangerous space teddy into the Terrahawks' HQ. 'The Gun' sees Zelda send twenty cubes to Earth, posing a threat to the entire planet. 'Thunder Pass' finds the Terrahawks under attack from their old enemy Sram, Lord of Felony. Whilst in 'Mind Monster', Zelda unleashes a terrifying mist which is capable of confronting humans with their worse fears. In 'To Catch a Tiger' Zelda captures two space pilots and offers to return them in exchange for Tiger Ninestein. 'The Midas Touch' sees Zelda attempt to destroy Earth's gold reserves. 'Operation SAS' has Zero mount an SAS-style rescue mission when Kate Kestrel is kidnapped. 'Top Ten Pop' finds Zelda using her hi-tech skills to take control of pop virtuoso Stew Dapples. In 'Unseen Miracle' the Master of Infinite Disguise gains access to the Hawknest by posing as the Invisible Man. 'A Christmas Miracle' sees Zelda mount a massive Christmas Day onslaught. 'Midnight Blue' has Hawkwing enter into unexpected danger when it pursues one of Zelda's ships. 'Play it Again Sram' finds Zelda taking on Kate Kestrel in the Interstellar Song Contest, while the Lord of Felony makes explosive mischief behind the scenes. In 'My Kingdom for a Zeaf' the Terrahawks encounter Lord Tempo, a villain with the ability to travel in time and space. 'Zero's Finest Hour' sees Zero and the Zeroids left to defend Hawknest from Zelda's marauding hordes. 'The Ultimate Menace' has Tiger join forces with Zelda to combat a much greater menace. 'Gold' finds Zelda playing on human greed when she sends a massive golden asteroid hurtling in the Earth's direction. In 'Ma's Monsters', Zelda prepares a new selection of monsters ready to invade Earth, but she is about to receive some surprising news from Cystar. In 'Two for the Price of One' Tiger Ninestein plans a surprise attack on Zelda's Martian base. In 'Child's Play' Cystar's baby, Itstar, takes after Zelda and produces a powerful explosive. 'Jolly Roger One' sees Zelda teaming up with her most bizarre ally yet, the pirate Captain Goat. 'Runaway' sees Yungstar run away from home. Since Zelda knows he's always captured, why has she let him go? In 'First Strike' the Space Marines authorise a military strike to break the deadlock between Zelda and the Terrahawks. 'Terrabomb' sees Zelda able to smuggle a bomb into Hawknest. In 'Doppelganger' Itstar has invented clones. In 'Cry UFO', Stew Dapples sees a UFO but no-one takes him seriously. 'Space Cyclops' sees the release of a one-eyed creature after a collision with the moon. In 'Timewarp' Lord Tempo, the master of time, is back! Space miners capture a Sporilla in 'Space Giant' sensing a money-making idea. Zelda forms an alliance with Coldfinger in the episode of the same name. Whilst in the final episode, 'Operation Zero' Major Zero is ill but the timing couldn't be worse.

I love terrahawks and it was the first programme I clearly remember watching as a child in the 1980s. I was horrified by Zelda but loved watching the episodes over and over again on our first ever family video recorder. I am 23 now , not scared of Zelda so much , but I still adore this series. Terrahawks is bright , fun , exciting and very inventive in its storylines.The series is also surprisingly witty and some of the off the more off the cuff remarks were clearly aimed at an adult audience. However , if the series was great , this DVD box set is even better. This collection contains everything somebody could possibly want to know about the series. Here we have every single 25 minute episode from all three series , profiles of both characters and hardware , the American end titles , a look at the various merchandise associated with the series and much much more. Of most interest will be the special disc featuring a fascinating documentary with the original voice artists Ben Stevens , Anne Ridler ,Denise Bryer and Jeremy Hitchen in which they discuss the experience of making Terrahawks and in which they take on the old roles to read a terrahawks script. Add to that interviews with special effects man Steven Begg , graphic designer Kevin Davies and puppet maker Richard Gregory and you have a wondeful insight into the making of Terrahawks.
As for the series itself my favourite episodes were CRY UFO and FIRST STRIKE.
If you are a fan of classic television or watched Terrahawks as a child like myself, I cannot recommend this DVD collection enough. I am sure you will watch the episodes again and again.

Gerry Anderson has used organizations, often secret, as the basis for many of his productions. In this case a secretive Earth based organization defending the Earth from hostile, and untrustworthy, mechanical aliens based on Mars. This is aimed at a young audience. Fortunately there is much to entertain adults as well. The characters are distinctive and stereotypical which adds to the charm of this production. Along with the principal story line runs a level of humor directed at the parents which allows them to enjoy the episodes as well. The backgrounds often have their own interesting and often humorous details, not unlike a Giles cartoon. This production is quite old and many of the references are somewhat dated. The Terrahawks series targeted an international market but it retains Gerry Anderson's strong English (British) values.
So far I have covered the most important aspects the quality and detail of the stories which are first class. Sadly the technical quality of the DVD is no better than an old fashioned VHS cassette. Today the quality offered by DVDs and Blu-ray has led consumers to expect much higher standards of picture quality on a large modern screen. I hope this problem can be addressed in the future. That is the only criticism that I have and fortunately it will not affect the enjoyment that it will give to youngsters. Terrahawks The Complete Series [DVD] [1983]

It is the earth year 2020. Zelda and her android forces from the Planet Guk have taken over the red planet Mars, and are using it as a base to launch their planned destruction of Earth. Our only defence is the elite force Terrahawks. I wasn't sure if my son would go for this series as he has long tired of Stingray and Thunderbirds since overdosing on them as a 5 year old (he still has a soft spot for them though and loved the recent Thunderbirds movie). He's now 9 and is totally impressed with Terrahawks. The script and special effects were quite startling when it was first on TV in September 1983, and even as a 27 year old I did watch most of the series. I liked the fact it had a `smart' Rolls Royce (called Hudson - and being older I got the 'Upstairs Downstairs' gag). It isn't as swish, modern and pink as Lady Penelope's one though. At the time I found the series a bit childish compared to Dr Who, UFO, Space 1999, and Star Trek - which was no doubt the intention of Gerry Anderson. However I did think Zelda was a bit scary. Picture quality on this 4:3 DVD set isn't top-notch, but it's adequate on the small screen, and the colour is nice and bold. The special effects are at least as good as GA's other series, if not better.
There's quite a few extras on the episode DVDs 1 to 9: all the show scripts, 'interviews and biographies' [all text and interesting, but oddly in capitals so not easy to read], and things like the merchandise as a series of photo slideshows. There's also a separate extras bonus DVD 10 that has the U.S. and original UK credit sequences, 'Gerryhawks': a spoof sketch, and 'exclusive cast interviews' with Anne Ridler, Jeremy Hitchen, Ben Stevens and Denise Bryer. It was a real treat to be able to watch Gerry Anderson and Christopher Burr's "Terrahawks" when we were kids. When we were allowed, we would tape that week's episode from ITV onto a 30-minute VHS tape and watch it over and over again. It's fantastic to be able to own and watch each and every episode of this truly inspired series.
This was Gerry Anderson's final puppet effort, the first not to be shown on the BBC, and for me it's certainly a big step forward from the more popular Thunderbirds (although the theme is almost identical). The show is full of humour, technical gadgetry and heroic deeds. The box-set sees Doctor Tiger Ninestein and his Terrahawk organisation succeed in saving the Galaxy from Zelda, the Imperial Queen of the planet Guk - the dastardly old witch has only taken over Mars as a base from which to launch a 39-episode series of plots and schemes. Typical.
The set features all the episodes ever made, plus some good extras, including behind-the-scenes footage and technical specifications of the Terrahawk and Martian ships. Best bit? Richard Harvey's score - the man should be knighted for the best piece of kids TV music ever!
Great value for money for a light-hearted trip down memory lane. 10-10, Sergeant Major Zero !!!

do you want the terrahawks complete series.

My Son's Favourite Series
I bought this series for my son, who is now in his mid-thirties, it was his favourite show in his youth, still enjoyed it immensely. Worth the money paid.
