I am a fan of the terminator series, and it's mythos, I have read many other terminator comics, and in anticipation of the new film purchased this book.
The book put simply, tells the tale of an attempt to attack one of the many skynet bases, in an attempt to slow down production. this is done by two resistence leaders on opposite sides of the world, Elena and Bem, communcating via radio receiver.
I must confess I didn't expect much from this (anything released as a supposed direct tie in to big movies tend to be a let down), so I can't say I was expecting much from it.
The story is bland, and given the length of the book there are far too many characters, and not enough time to explore them, make you feel for them, or their cause.
The attack on the skynet base formed little more than the last few pages of the book as the story mainly tries to be character driven, but as I say, there are far too many characters, with too little space to feel anything for them.
Also this book seems to have no bearing on the upcoming movie, with only a couple of glimpses of john connor, in the few brief flashbacks, being the closest you will get (aside from the t-600's) to terminator salvation.
Simply put, don't bother with this book, story is basic, action is boring, overall not worth the cost or time.

Sci-Fi about the Age of the Machines 11 Dec 2011
By James D. Crabtree - Published on Amazon.com
The artwork on this was great and the storyline was interesting, even if not entirely meshing with what I've seen of the movies. A good book.
Expected less and got it - sadly 15 Jun 2011

There is not much to note in the prequel editon of the Terminator:salvation series. I had high hopes for IDW because they do some really expert work on a lot of diffrent lines, but this seemed to fall through the cracks. Sadly it does some work on trying to do something but it does not seem to have the ability to go beyond what treasers the movie offers. You can really tell it has its hands tied.

Another thing I did not like it the fact that I expected a little more on the Terminator front. I know the T-600 is running amok and there are other lines we see, but these ar enot showcased that much. Before you think that this is because of the movie being followed, there were some other prequels put out. amongst them was the Machina seies and the Terminator novelization prequel, and both at least tried to lay foundations. To the "movie" credit, it did use T-70s and some other Terminators to tease you. The book also mentioned the fact that T-400s are outdated and that the T-600 and HK are strategy options and played out how that worked. In both of those you had an idea of the skynet scope. Here you feel a little of both sides and a little of none, not really caught in a struggle between them but in a struggle to compress pieces of movie hype into pages.

It could have been more.

If stoory of other options do not really matter, then art might. It was not a thing I would invest myself in, and i hate saying this. I love my T-series stuff, too much sometimes, but bad is ultimately bad. Not much else to say expect thank you for reading.

Amateurish effort 30 May 2009
By danny boy - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
This is a poorly scripted prequel. The storyline which is ill-served by the artwork is very weak, with patchwork resistance groups and their multi-plots inadequately weaved together except via sat-link. The extremely poor development of the characters and their cheesy dialogue before they are finally killed off is amateurishly done, and I am surprised that this effort is associated with such a major relaunch of the Terminator Movie franchise. Don't waste your money on this turkey.
