Product Description

From the Author

Most complete one liner book available on tennis
The world of tennis is filled with such colorful characters that it seemed appropirate to do a one liner book on the sport. With the likes of Bud Collins, Ilie Nastase, Billie Jean King and Jimmy Connors, this was an enjoyable book to put together. Favorite lines from the book: "The all verb final" Mary Carillo, on Sabine Hack playing Mary Pierce in a tournament final "This is the first time I've fulfilled the fantasy of a middle aged man." --Pam Shriver, on beating a middle aged man at a 'Play a Pro' contest in Texas "Yours too." --A waiter at a restaurant, after Martina Navratilova told him his service was excellent "It was interesting playing tennis with Mike--at least as long as his racket lasted." --Tom Landry, on playing tennis with Mike Ditka There are 997 other great one liners in this book. Perfect for any tennis fan.

From the Back Cover

It's more important than that." -- David Dinkins, former New York City mayor From the sarcastic wit of John McEnroe to the courtside humor of Bud Collins, this hilarious collection serves up 1,001 of the best one-liners from the game's greatest players, coaches, and commentators. Tennis legends such as Arthur Ashe, Billie Jean King, Jimmy Connors, and Chris Evert are featured as well as current stars Andre Aggasi, Steffi Graf, Boris Becker, Monica Seles, and Pete Sampras. Laughter Across the Net 4 Jan. 2002
By glenn liebman - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover
I loved this book. Only tennis book I know of that I laughed at from beginning to end. It's all here-the quotes of McEnroe, The Williams Sisters, Anna Kournikova and so many more. I highly recommend this as a gift book. Of course I'm biased, I am the author. If you would like more information about this book or any of my other books, you can go on to glennliebman.com. Thank you.
Short and Mildly Humorous 28 Nov. 2003
By R. Spell - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover Verified Purchase
This is a very quick read made up mainly of one-liners. Some of the lines are hilarious. Some are mildly humorous at best. At some are just repetitive after being repeated in previous chapters. Having read the book would I buy it again? No. But I did enjoy some parts. Regardless, it's such a short read that it is not a significant commitment of time.
