I am a 50 year old man who has been playing tennis at a little above intermediate level for many years. Until a few months ago I was often suffering cramps and other injuries after playing tennis. For the past several months I have suffered no injuries thanks to the advice I applied given in this book. The main advice is to warm up with a brisk walk or jog and then stretch before tennis and warm down again by walking and stretching after tennis. The book is written by a doctor who understands tennis and sports. Explanations are very clear and to the point with lots of diagrams to not only cure injuries but exercises to prevent the injuries. I often participate in veterans tennis tournaments in Istanbul in the mens 45 to 55 years of age singles category. I come across players much better in tennis than me who frequently suffer knee, elbow, shoulder, back, wrist and neck injuries because they think they have no time to warm up and stretch before and warm down and stretch after tennis. I have mentioned this book to many tennis players in Istanbul who complained about such injuries. I believe every tennis player can minimize the risk of injury by applying the advice explained in this book. So if you are a regular tennis player do yourself a favor by buying, reading and applying this book.

Good Advice and Help with Tennis Injuries 27 April 2000
By Susan Johnson - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
I recently came back to tennis after years of not playing. When I played when I was younger, I never had any injuries and never really thought about it. Now, I'm over forty, playing regularly in a tennis league and all of a sudden injuries are here to stay. Reading this book really helped me both with preparing before I play and dealing with those little aches and pains afterward. The book is easy to read and organized so that you can find what you're looking for quickly. Now I spend more time on warming up using exercise suggestions from the book to avoid injury. But, if I do get injured I know I can refer to the Tennis Injury Handbook for good advice to help get me back playing. I recommend this book for all tennis players, especially those weekend warriors and league players who want to stay fit and healthy to keep on playing.

Cured Tennis Elbow and Strengthened My Play 13 April 2000
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
This book covers all the tennis injuries I have ever had, and I have had my share. Very comprehensive. I tried everything for my tennis elbow - the treatment and prevention measures from Dr. Levy completely cured my problems with tennis elbow. The tennis strength, stretching and conditioning excercizes have really helped my game. I have not gotten any new injuries since I implemented the simple prevention excersizes in this book.

Very good reference on the subject 14 July 2007
By Gaetan Lion - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
If you are interested in this book, there is a good probability you are a pretty good player of middle age. In your youth your body felt invulnerable. You could play all day long injure free. Now, with a full life and little exercise during the working week you are facing an onslaught of tennis injuries. This is the fate of zillions of former high school and college players.

The title of the book alone reminds one how tasking tennis is on aging joints. You won't find similar books related to surfing, swimming , or biking. All these sports are associated with very smooth motions absent of any shock on the joints. But, tennis is just the opposite.

The book serves as an encyclopedia of all the injuries you could potentially face playing tennis. The author being an M.D. specializing in sports medicine does an excellent job in imparting information about diagnostic, prevention, and treatment for each one of them. Explanations of exercises are very clear associated with precise drawings that leaves no doubt about what you should be doing.

I am just in the midst of nursing an Achilles tendon and plantar fasciitis. The author has provided me all the info I need to treat these conditions. I am doing the related exercises. And, I am already feeling much better. In probably just a few weeks, I should be able to get back on the courts reasonably safely.

For your own sake, I hope you don't need this book. But, if you do don't hesitate getting it. I think it is excellent in imparting information on sport medicine that your typical general practitioner won't know.
