Series Two sees the women split up in to new camps, struggling to survive the brutal conditions of new commanders Sato and Miss Hassan. This shift in direction made Series 2 the best, for me personally,
Compared with the first series, which looking back just seemed to be easing you in!, this series is utterly absorbing, full of drama, moral dilemmas and social issues (some of which are still relevant today). Such a ground-breaking show, with this series in particular seeming to set the bar for future BBC dramas

The story is based on fact, of a group of amazing British women and children imprisoned by the Japanese in squalid camps after the fall of SIngapore. We bought the first series and enjoyed it so much we bought the second series. It is of excellent quality and as entertaining and fresh as when viewed originally. If you enjoyed it the first time on television, buy the two sets, you will find each episode totally engrossing. The acting and production is first class. Although the story is harrowing it portrays the undoubted indomitable spirit of British women and it is nonetheless superb entertainment. The delivery was also first class from the seller. Mosie66
