Product Description

Sainsbury's Magazine
'Noble reveals, with wit and sensitivity some modern dilemmas in this very readable novel.'

Review
'Witty, affectionate and unashamedly tear-jerking look at female bonding.' (Red )

'Her stories strike a genuine chord, with protagonists that are reassuringly “real”, flawed, and oh-so easy to empathise with. It’s a celebration of friendship and observes the way different friends fill different roles, from the mother figure you run to in your hour of need, to the party animal you go out and get drunk with . . . an irresistible comfort read' (Glamour )

'It's only Noble's second novel, but she's already an old pro. So fluid, the pages turn themselves.' (Daily Mirror )

'An emotional rollercoaster' (Eve )

5.0 out of 5 stars Either you love it or you hate it...., 1 Aug 2005
By T. Ljubic-Brown (Cambridgeshire, UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Well, also judging from all the other reviews here, this is a book that you either love or hate. And I happen to love it. It's essentially a story about friendship that stands the test of time, something increasingly rare nowadays. The group of women depicted meet in university where they form the Tenko Club, vowing to be there for each other whatever happens in the future. And they are. It's a wonderful book, leaving you with a warm glowing feeling inside, and also making you think about not neglecting your own special friendships with people, no matter how busy everyday life may be. And by the way, the descriptions of New England are indeed beautiful - and very accurate I may say, having lived there myself for a while!

4.0 out of 5 stars The Tenko Club, 6 May 2005
Having previously read The Reading Group, I looked forward to The Tenko Club. It's written in a way that feels as if you have "jumped-in" to the story and picked up the continuing threads of the main characters' lives. The various extended families have warmth and were extremely diverse. The dialogue is typical and insightful, depicting acurately how really close friends relate to each other. Although I was initially disappointed that the bias switched to one character in the "club", the impact on her life from the others is strong and relevant, therefore a balance is achieved. The chapters describing the various places and people in America were excellent, and left me feeling I wanted to visit and see them for myself. I really did enjoy this book very much, and feel that any woman who has close friends will feel an affinity with the unique "shorthand" that plays a great part in the "club" members' understanding of each other. This is what gives the book it's real depth and value.

2.0 out of 5 stars Dissappointing, 1 Mar 2005
By Lis "chic_lit_addict" (Rotterdan, The Netherlands) - See all my reviews
Having never read anything by the author before I approached the book with an open mind. To be honest I am not 100% sure what I expected from the book but it certainly didn't excite me. Dont get me wrong it is not a bad book but it just din't seem to deliever anything to keep me hooked, not even the will they wont they relationship between Freddie and Matthew.

This book would make a perfect beach read but that's all, if you want anything more then dont buy it as it just doesn't seem to deliever
