Tenerife Walkers Maps comprehensively updated for 2011 including newly opened GR131 long distance hiking route plus new walking routes D1, & D2 from the latest edition of Walk! Tenerife. Comprehensively updated with new walking routes from the previous 'Tenerife Walkers Map' thanks to the mass of gps ground survey information now available. Previously seperate 'Adeje' and 'Las Canadas' map sections are now joined into one big section covering the southern mountains from near sea level up to over 2,700 metres altitude including the final section of the GR131 from the Parador to Vilaflor then on to Ifonche on a newly opened trail before finishing in Arona. Note this is a collection of large scale map sections of the most popular walking areas on Tenerife, it is not a map of the whole island. Large scale map sections include:- Adeje-Las Canadas, West, South, Orotava Valley, Anaga along with small sections for El Puertito and Golf del Sur. Scale of the map sections are approx 25k or larger scale except for the Anaga at 30k.

Having recently bought a property in this part of the world, and not being the type that simply wants to sit by the pool, I purchased this guide map to enable me to see the island from the hikers point of view, rather than the tourist. The map takes you off the main roads onto the beaten track, and though you need a car most times to get to the start of the walks, bus services are available. The map has become part of my life in Tenerife now, and I am enjoying completing the walks described in it, whilst at the same time finding different elements of the Island that the tourist would not. Well worth the purchase, I would not be without it now.

This map covers the main walking areas of Tenerife ... but not the whole island.
It is a great partner to the "Walk Tenerife" book and allows you to see a wider area (round each walk) than the sections reproduced in the book and gives a better idea of where the start points actually are in relation to roads etc, but I wouldn't like to have the map alone. It needs to go with the book.
Still ... reasonable value ... but if choosing one, then go for the book

As a regular hiker on Tenerife during the winter months I found this latest edition a significant upgrade over the, already good, earlier edition. A lot more tracks and trails have been added including the newly opened GR route; I think this map is the only one that shows this great hiking adventure in detail - try the new Vilaflor to Ifonche to Arona final section on mostly newly made trails, its spectacular.
Joining the Las Canadas and Adeje/Arona sections with new mapping opens up some new walking routes and there are more trails than previously around Vilaflor and in the Anaga. I would have liked to see the map on the Super-Durable plastic but even this paper edition at a [...] is a must have resource for anyone considering walking on Tenerife.

Not very useful
This map is really only useful as a companion to David Brawn's "Walk Tenerife". It only covers the areas of the island where the book's walks are, and in any case the same map... Read more

Not quite what I expected
Not quite what I expected I guess I was looking for a os map. However if you are a walker then this map has several. Established walks that are detailed and in different areas . Read more
