Book Description

The largest and most popular of the Canary Islands, Tenerife is a hotspot for sunshine, culture, food and natural wonders. Over five million tourists make their way to the island every year and it is one of the most best-known holiday locations in all of Spain. Because of it’s southerly location off the coast of North Africa, Tenerife has one of the “best” climates in Europe and is one of the only places in all of Europe where winter sun and ideal winter temperatures can be guaranteed.

Welcome to Tenerife - Planning Your Stay - Climate & Weather - Sightseeing - Teide National Park - Masca Valley - Icod de los Vinos - Best Beaches - Guimar Pyramids - Las Montanas de Anaga - Los Gigantes (Cliffs of the Giants) - Arona - Costa Adeje - Siam Park - Los Cristianos - Playa de las Americas - Las Aguilas Jungle Park - Camel Park - Monkey Park - La Laguna - Cathedral of La Laguna - San Cristobal de La Laguna - Royal Sanctuary of the Christ of La Laguna - Santa Cruz de Tenerife - La Orotava - Puerto de la Cruz - Lago Martianez - Loro Parque Zoo - Shopping - Places to Stay - Eating & Drinking

1.0 out of 5 stars One star is too many! 14 Aug. 2014
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
TERRIBLE. Billed on the cover as 'The ultimate Tenerife Travel Guide' this pamphlet looks like it's been produced by a young child as a piece of school homework and they've only been given 15 minutes to do it. No maps, no colour pics, a pathetic listing of recommended restaurants (5 for the whole of Tenerife!!!).

The 'guide' is a mix of the 'bleedin obvious', badly written text and factual errors. On page p31 we learn that Costa Adeje is located 20km from Playa de las Americas' err, no, it's right next to it!

The author seems unsure about how many people live on the island. On p.43 we're told that the capital, Santa Cruz has a population of nearly 1 million. On p 38 we find out that the town of La Laguna has a population of over 150,000. But back at p8 the whole island has only 908,000 inhabitants. Did nobody read this guide before they hit the print button?

If this was given out free at the airport I'd have been disappointed with it.

1.0 out of 5 stars Worst Travel Book Ever! 17 Sept. 2014
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
The worst travel book ever! Cheap, flimsy and only 60 pages of huge size type with lots of blank spaces spread throughout. Grammar poor, pagination abysmal, American spellings, no colour photos just a very few B&Ws, no maps just a general mash of ill put together commonly known information easily gleaned from the internet. Full of simple errors (e.g. CFS used to relate to Tenerife Sur Airport (TFS) ~ cost of Bono card now15 Euros not twelve as stated although published date is 2014!) Amazon claims to publish this ~ shame on you! Claims to be the "Ultimate Tenerife Travel Guide" ~ large joke! As for hotels and restaurants the book lists five of each with prices in US$s spread across the island ~ odd pricing since book is claimed to be printed and published in UK. I shall be attempting to return this awful pamphlet to Amazon for a full refund. Don't waste your time and money on this rubbish ~ try one of the travel books from the mainstream travel book publishers.

1.0 out of 5 stars DON'T waste your money! 8 Mar. 2015

This is the worst travelers guide I have ever read. TRULY! It seems to have been written by a dozen different authors, none of which read the rest of the book to avoid duplication of information and make a coherent volume. It doesn't have a single map yet describes different locations all over the island, and repeatedly from one chapter to the next. There are very few restaurant reviews. I am not a critical reviewer, but this book is not worth a single star, regrettably -- but the system won't let me give none.

This book was helpful but more explicit directions to places listed and wow, maybe an actual address would have been better. O did follow the advice and it was nice to have something that provided information about the island before and while we were visiting.
