Product Description

United Kingdom released, Blu-Ray/Region A/B/C DVD: LANGUAGES: English ( Dolby Linear PCM ), English ( Mono ), Italian ( Dolby Linear PCM ), Italian ( Mono ), English ( Subtitles ), WIDESCREEN (1.85:1), SPECIAL FEATURES: Booklet, Cast/Crew Interview(s), Commentary, Interactive Menu, Posters, Remastered, Scene Access, Trailer(s), SYNOPSIS: One of Dario Argento's best thrillers, this horror film has gone on to cult status due to its shocking style and twist-filled story. Available in America for many years in only a badly cut version titled Unsane, Tenebre tells the story of an American novelist (Anthony Franciosa) whose P.R. trip to Rome to promote his latest tome becomes tied to a series of slayings. The murders -- slashing, stabbing, axing, and strangling among them -- are enacted in a stylish manner that makes them all the more disturbing. Such startling visuals are the film's finest point, and credit goes to both Argento and cinematographer Luciano Tovoli for this aspect. One particularly strong shot has the killer putting out a bare light bulb by running a razor blade through it. Another great shot (later used on the U.S. video box cover) lingers on a murdered woman who is left with her head dangling through a shattered window pane. Most memorable is a sadistic flashback by the killer in which three youths hold him down while a woman forces her high heel into his mouth. The script is a simple murder-mystery that does a good job of throwing the audience off track and keeping things suspenseful as each potential suspect is knocked off. The film's final reel is easily one of the most brutal ever made and features a couple of great surprises. ...Tenebrae (1982) ( Tenebre ) ( Under the Eyes of the Assassin (Unsane) ) (Blu-Ray)

Im going to make this short and sweet...This is a great/amazing Argento flick, That has had it's face shoved in the mud by ARROW VIDEO!!! It's like watching the film through frosted glass...moving frosted glass! Final Words...Arrow please fix up or it's Blue-underground from now on.

The best thing about this edition are the commentary tracks. They are really the only the thing making this blu ray version worth buying. The picture quality swings from the adequate to very poor with lots of weird crawling noise pattern on backgrounds and some skin tones. Obviously an error in coding in the master supplied by the Italian film vaults. If you can find it cheap pre-owned then grab it for the commentary tracks. Bit of a let down from Arrow again! This is worse than their Deep Red, by a wide margin. I have yet to find a version of a film that is better on Arrow than Blue Underground. If you have the option on a genre favourite title then always go for the Blue Underground. They may not have all the "extras" but their film transfers are consistently stronger than Arrow.

yet again arrow have released a sub standard blu ray transfer.the picture quality of tenebrae is really poor.there are times when the picture is clear, but more often than not,the picture is fuzzy and grainy and not the kind of quality you expect from blu ray.arrow films need to take a long hard look at the products they are releasing and then they simply need to try harder with the quality of transfers they are providing customers.this is a great film, that has not been given the blu ray transfer that it deserves.it is only just worth the upgrade from the dvd,but if you are a fan of this movie, then you will probably upgrade regardless of my review.cat o' nine tails is next for the arrow blu ray treatment,so let's hope they get it right with that release, although i expect that there will be problems with that release too.come on arrow and pull your finger out or you might not be in business much longer.
