The only two contemporary novels I have so far enjoyed of Judith McNaught's are Perfect and Paradise. This one is very bland - it should,ve been published by Mills and Boon. It is very unusual to find such a timid female character in her books. I only read this book once, about two years ago, and unlike most of my other Judith McNaught books, I have never read it again. However, she is still the best historical romance writer around, so i'd stick with those.

Having been a huge fan of Ms McNaught's for a long time, I looked forward to reading this book. However, I found the storyline unbelievable (a rushed romance leading to the heroine moving abroad with our hero in the space of a couple of weeks) and the characters lacked the usual attention to detail that I normally enjoy in Ms McNaught's books. Perfect, Paradise and Double Standards are the best modern books by Ms McNaught.

I have read all of judith mc naught's novel and this was difinitely below her standard. It's time for her to return to the sensuality of books like'something wonderful' and 'kingdom of dreams', my personal favorite. Very huge dissapointment. I only read it because I bought it and did not want to lose my money's worth. more's the pity. I would have given no stars but amazon does not offer that option.
