Being a huge fan of the D i was fairly excited about their film "The Pick Of Destiny", which stars Jack Black and Kyle Gass and features cameo performances by Foo Fighters legend Dave Grohl as well as Meatloaf and Dio. The film is exactly what you would expect from Tenacious D: a plot that sounds like it was thrown together while on mushrooms (curiously this is also one of the more hilarious parts of the film), a lot of swearing and some hilarious gags. While, admittedly, it does take a while to get started properly and feels rather quick at the beginning, once the film gets underway it is a non-stop hilarity ride. However, those who are not already familiar with the works of Tenacious D will not enjoy it, as the film seems to be made mainly for the D-siples.

All in all this is a highly enjoyable film for all fans of Tenacious D and I believe it has fully earned its five star award.

JB and KG are very funny in this movie that fits in quite well with the HBO TV series(on the Masterworks DVD). I think this is a brilliant and very rewatchable movie, a hilarious script, great cameos(Meat Loaf,Dio,Ben Stiller,Tim Robbins), and excellent songs. The opening scenes are particuarly funny and perhaps the ending could have been slightly more epic, but I feel if you're a fan of Tenacious D or like films like Roadie, School of Rock or Waynes World then you should love Tenacious D and the Pick of Destiny.

After all the hype, and after loving the first album, I thought I'd give the film a go. It isn't too bad, I was expecting more belly laughs than I got, but it is a genuinely amusing film that will kill a few hours on a Sunday afternoon. A few moments do make you chuckle out loud and there are some great cameos. Jack Black is his usual gurning, swearing, hilarious self and KG comes out with some great lines as well. Don't expect too much, but do expect a great film that doesn't take itself too seriously and that will raise a smile.
