This reading brought across vividly the power of a good story.A series of fairytale characters appear nightly in the bed of Dinah who has a fantasy life with them. The story is told from Dinah's point of view. Faitytales are 'rewritten' as Dinah outwits the intruders. She tells her visitors her own versions of the stories which my class delighted in.Children will put themselves in Dinah's shoes as they listen to a master storyteller doing justice to a superb authors work. Recommended to tie in with work on fairytales in the NationalLiteracy Strategy. Buy it!

The story is about a girl called Dinah Price. Strange things keep happening to her. All these different characters appear in her bed. Some things are repeated in the story. When Dinah tells her friend, her friend always has something better. The story has eight chapters of fun. The main characters are the Three Bears, Esmerelda, Simple Simon, Puss in Boots, Sleeping Beauty, Dinah Price, the Frog Prince and a big bad wolf. It is a good book for 8-9 year olds because it is really long. It's got characters from fairy tales; some 8-9 year olds like fairy tales. The part that I enjoyed most was when Dinah's baby brother was crying. She ignored him and kept talking to the giant but later she got annoyed so she went over to him and made him go to sleep. This is a very good book because Dinah's a kid like you! So, if you're into comedy I think you should buy it. Everyone might like this book if I like it - I know you will.

FANTASTIC!!! 1 May 2008
Format:Mass Market Paperback
Dinah Price is a little girl; she lives with her mum and dad, her big brother and her little one tow. One night, she got visited by the three bears (from Goldilocks and the Three Bears) and ever since she had been having strange visitors...
This book is very original and clever as well. For one week, every night she had a fairy tale guest and she found some way of getting rid of them. Mainly it was by telling the unwanted visitors' stories but now and again she had to find another approach. By day, she is continued with life normally but every night, her life changed. Allan Ahlberg did a great job with this book and I think that he should try and make it into a poem.
I would absolutely rate this book 8/ 10 and would strongly recommend it to young children who like fairy tales, adventures and a good giggle!
