This is a handy, entertaining, accessible synopsis of ten Popes who made a signficant impact globally. Inevitably, certain readers (like me) will regret that certain Popes aren't among the author's choices. But Duffy's got Peter, John XXIII, John Paul II and the two "Greats" (Leo & Gregory) in here, as five of his ten, so there isn't much wiggle room. Plus, Duffy knows way more about his subject than I do, and this book is a great value. I hope he comes out with "Another Ten Popes...." I'll buy that one too.
