"Blue eyed soul" is a phrase that was coined with Steve Ellis in mind. Having fronted over the years Love Affair, Ellis, Widowmaker and Scarlet he is now focusing on his solo career and has just recorded a stunning solo album with his band The Big City Allstars. One of the tracks "Healing Touch" reunites Steve with the writers Cason/Gaydon who wrote two of his biggest hits "Everlasting Love" and "Rainbow Valley" from his days in Love Affair. An enhanced CDR promotional video of "Please Please Me" is included on the CD.
"Formally of Love Affair, Steve Ellis sang on Everlasting Love and Rainbow Valley, two late sixties singles of such exquisite beauty that it would have scarcely mattered if he never recorded anything again. Four decades on, though, 61 year-old Ellis has returned with an album that once again displays his talent for marrying hard-edged rock vocals to sweet pop tunes . Healing touch and Ellis's own Perfect Sunday, are sublime, and the singer shows his talent for picking cover material with a sparkling version of Neil Young's On The Way Home."
-- ***** The Sunday Express
"The former Love Affair singer proves that old rock stars don't necessarily die if they have a sweet enough voice and and still understand what makes an astoundingly good pop song"
